Books have been discontinued

I always enjoyed writing Shiver and Fears books, but I have come to the conclusion that although many kids like to hear from Shiver and Fears and read the books, many parents are frowning upon these books.😦
I been writing for 4 years now, and I've seen Shiver and Fears books make great progress, but within those 4 years I've heard from adults; they don't like scary things, scary books are not holy, and they don't want to read kid books.
Now I was fine with that, because Shiver and Fears are for the kids anyway. But there was a post on facebook today that I read that had shown me that all adults are against me. The post was like making a successful business and someone telling everyone it's negative charm, which even though you have fans it can get them thinking 'you know what, they do have a point' and get them against you too.
After reading it, it made me think the only way to get to my target of readers (kids) is through parents. And if parents are constantly saying 'I don't want my kid reading scary books' and parents saying 'this isn't very christian' (because those are the kind I run in to) then there is really no point in writing a series of book that makes them say that.
So what does that mean for Shiver and Fears; no give-a-ways? no parties? will the website be deleted? *sigh* no, I've come way to far to throw it all away. For right now, it means 1 stop writing. I'm dropping the keyboard on Shiver and Fears and trying Magical Times.2. Shiver and Fears posts will end. So for those people on facebook who love to get the spotlight in Get Monsterfied or announcement for winners will end. 3 no more contests. so no more prizes, no more chances for your name/ picture to be posted. and 4 no more blog. This will be the last blog for not only this year (joke intended) but for the shut down for Shiver and Fears.
So here is what it leaves: the Bookaversary Party and audio books. So if you want an invitation understand, you don't need one. The party is always hosted at Harrison Park in Okc, ok in the Village on the Saturday before July 20 and audio books will always be given away in December as long as you email shiverandfears@gmail your choice and until we run out of codes to use for the give-a-way)
it may be depressing, but we'll see what the audience has to say about Magical ime and maybe, just maybe, Shiver and Fears will come back.

Annual Creepy Christmas

It's that time of year again. Shiver and Fears still have over 30 more audio books to send to you. This is no scam, there's no payment and you don't have to give your address. Last year we sold about 100 audio books, this year we want to sell at least 20. Want to read The Chill House? What about A Skeleton Dinner? or even better A Creepy Christmas! Didn't you know? Shiver and Fears giving Thanks

Today Shiver and Fears spent Thanksgiving with the Dillon family. Now after working in tennis with their kids and chatting with the mom a lot I was glad to be invited to a new friend, Amy's family. Now I've been with many families before including the Graves, Agnellos, Fishers, Joyces, Haywards, Clements, and plenty more. So how was this different from any other family I spent with? Well not only was I spending a holiday with them, but I was also meeting the wider range.
So I will admit I was nervous at first (I'm sure everyone would like me) it's not everyday you join a friend you've met within a year's family for a national holiday. If it is, it was new to me. I enjoyed them. Amy's parents are funny and kind and their house was huge. It was a two story lake house with a jacuzi and a whole table of food.
Now befoe I go on about the boys let me just mention there were 4 tables. Now I've seen a bunch of thanksgiving episodes on tv and everyone has a dinner table and a kiddie table(cause there's always that one person who wants to avoid the kiddie table) but I always thought it was a sterio type... This family actually had a kiddie table!
I also want to mention there was a lot more going on at there Thanksgiving then even at my house.
Now back to the boys. Gray, John Paul, and Parker are brother who are ready to get in the action. After eating dinner, a game of tag and time on the phones and tablets. Parker made a choice to jump in the lake... TWICE!

Now with it being hclose to winter, you can understand how cold lake water can get, especially after getting out of a hot tub. WOW!

Anyway this author enjoyed his Thanksgiving this year and hope to do it again. Hopfully you're not jumping in a lake, but your having fun as well!

Shiver and Fears in Action

Shiver and Fears has been working on a lot since the last blog written. A lot of the work was put into Bus Driver of Doom. Well now it's finished, but still in three publishing process. Not to forget we also need a cover.
Meanwhile, here's what else is going on. We are monsterfying people and posting them on Facebook and Twitter. I usually wonder where else can we spook a few more viewers. Any ideas?
Well as we finish our last book of the year, we wonder what book to work on next??? We'll be posting a poll very soon so you can vote what book you want published next.  So be on the look out... Oh and send in those photos to get monsterfied!😀😈

New Story Idea

Just thought of a new story, inspired by my annoying niece. I'm sure there are a few of you who have to deal with the free card child. You know, the child who gets away with things. What gives them the free card? Well meet Pendy - I know, it's not a real name, I'll work on it.
Pendy is a nine year old girl which at the age of 9 all the powers of a free card disappear. Not for Pendy. Her cousin watches in horror as she gets away with things, even if it's something you'd normally get in trouble for. Her cousin needs to solve why Pendy isn't getting trouble. After writing Bus Driver of Doom I plan on rough drafting the book: Brat Attack at Wick Ave. Check out the rough draft coming soon. If you have any question post them on the blog.

What to do with these extra books

Shiver and Fears had an anniversary party a week and a few days ago. It went pretty well, if you watch the video you can see what's going on. Meanwhile the book signing went pretty well, but out of 22 books there are still some books left over. Those books are for sale for $10, but by September 13th they will be given to elementary schools and book stores. Meanwhile the money raised from the books is being used to help promote Shiver and Fears. So far some has been used on facebook, and youtube but the rest is being used for Shiver and Fears contest coming this December.
It's the best we can do with such a small amount of money. Wish there was enough for something like a buildboard ad or a commercial, but only a dreamer can dream big. Right now Shiver and Fears is working on another book. Bus Driver of Doom. If you haven't heard it's a story about a bus driver. More details once things get organized.
Now back to the extra books. You can email me your address and I'll send a book to your house. There's plenty for you to buy and even have it autograph. In fact two was sold not too long ago. I guess I should tell you which book is being sold.:

The Chill House is about a kid and his brother who go on vacation to a popular vacation spot, but things start getting weird because the boy's family disappear and (not giving much away) the kid even disappears... Now you might think I'm giving the story away, well I'm not because in order to understand what I'm talking about you need to read this book... Or listen to the autobook (sold online only) You may think you have enough time to buy this book, and you do Jjust remember, September 13 (My birthday) the books are given to schools, stores, and even neighborhood kids... (details on that later) Now, I have to ask you... Do you want one?

Shiver and Fears 5th anniversary

Shiver and Fears has been working hard putting together the annual Bookaversary party. Now, a lot of people don't know what exactly a Bookaversary is. Is it really that difficult? I mean what two words do you hear in Bookaversary? If you said book and anniversary you are correct. Here's the drill. Shiver and Fears first book was published July 20th of 2012. Now I've learned my lesson that if you ever have a celebration you always throw it on a Saturday. So this book signing party is hosted on the Saturday before the 20th, if not the 20th itself. Each year Shiver and Fears gets the attention it needs with a party, cake, and Shiver and Fears rewards.
This year Shiver and Fears are doing a little extra, we had a contest for one of Shiver and Fears books illustration. We'll be making an announcement of the winner at the party, have a scavenger hunt for the t-shirts and hosts the Shiver and Fears questions on facebook, if not answered then the questions will be posted at the party. Winner get to keep 1 of 5 water squirters. We might have a facepainter giving you the chance to get The Mark of Shiver and Fears.
We also will have two camera men. One will do a live film on facebook and the other will soon put together a video for Shiver and Fears birthday on youtube. And don't forget, take a picture and post it July 20th on facebook. In order to find it hashtag it (#) with shiverandfears or Bookaversary. We'll then repost it on the Shiver and Fears page for everyone to see.

You're invited

So coming real soon is the annual Shiver and Fears book signing party. If you've been catching up with us, you'd know it's called the Bookaversary party. We got mostly everything set. The water balloons, the shirts, the bounce house, most of the books (with 5 more left). But you might be asking how's the fundraiser going for the food, and the puzzle prizes, and the books, and the cake... well so far we need to raise $153. Now at this point, we need to be quick at buyng the remaining items. By later this June we need to be sending the invitations. We plan on sending these invitations by text, email, facebook, and by hand. Do you want one? Get yours at Evite, that's where we're sending our invites from.

 If you've been to the party then you know how everything will be set up. Prizes, games, and food. Now here's something you might not know: If you're coming to the party SHARE YOUR FUN! What do I mean by that? Well, while you're at the party take a picture and on the 20th of July post it on facebook and hashtag it Bookaversary or Shiver and fears ex: #shiverandfears #Bookaversary and chances are your post will be shared on Shiver and Fears page or Read It group. Because we want everyone to see you and how great it is to be a Shiver and Fears fan.

Up To 30%

Are you helping Shiver and Fears? AJ Hard is raising money here and only need $320 to finish the task. So far with the 30% we have bought 3 shirts, 7 books, water balloons. With that can't really get much of a party going. still need 17 books, a load of chicken wings, a case of water, a bounce house... well you know what? We are actually thinking of getting a dunk tank! We are going to see what we can do. But anyway, we are so close of getting our limit, so don't just quit helping.
I've told everyone that helping includes Donating, sharing, or just being a guest at the party. It doesn't matter if it's $1 or $100 what matters is that you've help suppose for a good cause and this is a good cause.
The Bookaversary party is celebrating the date that Shiver and Fears books were published. The books were published on the 20th, but the book signing party is hosted the Saturday before that day. You'll really enjoy it, I mean original parties mostly serve pizza or hotdogs. Our party hosts with chicken wings... at least this year.

5 free books

So last year when doing the fundraiser we gave all our donators a free audio book. This year we can't really do that, what we can do is give 5 of our 25 books to the first 5 donators. At this moment now 3 books already have someone's name, so there are two books still open... or are there?

Donators must be at the party to receive their free autographed book... yes autographed! So if Cindy, Brandon, or Eunice don't arrive and get their free copy and you're number 7 on the list that book could be yours... IF you make it to the bookaversary party.

It's That Time of Year Again!

So we have started the annual fundraiser. I call it annual even though we've only done it for two years , but we've hosted a party for 3 years and planned something special for 5 years now. Anyway the point is we are hosting a fundraiser for the annual party this summer. This year we are doing something different. This year we are throwing water balloons that won't pop!, eating a whole pile of chicken wings, and this year we are having a bounce house, and let's not forget our cool shirts and prizes. Oh, and how can I forget if you were a contest winner for any Shiver and Fears contest hosted. Bring your prize and get youself a free autographed book. You'll have a good time, but if you can't come that's ok just as long as you show your support. Fundraiser will last until July. Let's make our goal!

That Was My Idea! Contest

     In the story Sibling Subtraction three friends deal with annoying younger siblings Agatha has the worse luck she has twin siblings. One day Agatha and her friends come up with an idea, leave them alone over night at the park, nearby the cave that's said to be haunted. Now ever since then the annoying siblings aren't so annoying. More like scary! Agatha must figure out what's going on and how to get her brothers back before it's too late. Otherwise she'll be one less of a brother, and not just that, she'll be stuck with a fake! Question is where is her brother? No other than the cave that was rumored to be haunted, but actually is haunted!

Now that you know the summary of the story now it's time you do your part. Come up with an idea for the cover of this story. Make sure the picture idea includes something within the story, and it has to be scary. Shiver and Fears is a horror fiction book so if you want to involve the cave make sure there's details about the cave: red eyes peaking out, a ghost hand reaching out to grab you.

entries are due 18th of February so there's really no time to wait! Because on Febuary 20th we will announce the winner and post it for everyone to see.

How interesting that Sibling Subtraction was actually part of another one of our contests: That's My Twin. We will never forget how Dylan created his imaginary twin Cylan.... I know, it's not a real name, but we used it because it was our most creative entry.

Update on Justice Clark (spoilers)

Shiver and Fears is working on another book this year.... like always. We're so excited that we want to give the scoop about the story. Warning this is a spoiler!
Justice Clark is our main character. He is visiting his grampa, but something doesn't feel right with him. I mean exactly when was he dropped off at his grampa's house. He doesn't really remember it happening. or when his grampa got a butler. Justice sees this whole visit as weird since his grampa doesn't even remember who Justice is.
 weird huh?
Well we are still working on it and we haven't got too far, but Justice is starting to feel as though there are some secrets to this whole visit. Gosh, can you believe it's only been 5 chapters and things are already getting strange.
It's my bad, I guess. I was a little too excited and with Justice not remembering things I didn't want it to be too obvious. But this secret is getting out of control. Justice has upset the butler and Justice doesn't really understand why, and did I forget to mention the rash? SPOILER ALERT!
Why does Justice have a rash? What's the big secret? Does Justice ever go home? Find out in Shiver and Fears new book: An Old Bite... and find out why it's called An Old Bite. The hint is, the story took another direction with the title.

The Royal Check

   Each year Shiver and Fears has a royal check. That's a check that records how many products were sold and how much money was made. Well to no shock in 2012 Shiver and Fear didn't make to much. About 2 products were sold back then.
   But this year has made a huge difference, within the past 5 years Shiver and Fears has sold 150 products! That would include books, audiobooks, and labeled products. And it's all because of the sales happening in 2016. Shiver and Fears made progress selling books and audios to the fans.
Although people don't seem interested in shoes, shirts, magnets and mugs, they are truly interested in reading and listening to books. In fact, listening to books is the most popular Shiver and Fears product ever.
   It's because of fans like you that makes it possible to be maybe not the best selling book, but a good one!

It's A Brand New Fear... I Mean Year

This year Shiver and Fears has a whole bunch of new ideas! If you've been catching up with us on twitter or facebook then you've heard about Shiver and Fears and the new story An Old Bite. Without giving out too much of the story An Old Bite is about Justice Clark visiting his grandfather. As he comes for a visit Justice has a rash that won't seem to go away. During his visit Justice gets strange feelings about his visit and that his grandfather is hiding something. Could it be... Well I rather not give you too much detail!
Our next idea is to try something different. We're going to make our first book with an adult as the main character! Shiver and Fears makes stories about kids and teens, but we will soon change all that! We'll be different from Goosebumps and have the adult struggle in the situation... and have the kids not believe him! We will entitle it The Bus Driver of Doom! It was a story Shiver and Fears had already written, but  the plot was a little off so it was never published. Now we're ready, and this story will be great, we promise!
This year's Bookaversary party will be put together by not one, but 3 team mates. The first two parties were great but this year we want to do something a little extra. We're planning right now. This February we'll need your help to raise money to get everything set. Hope to see you there.
