New Book in the Making

So Shiver and Fears is making some changes to it's book series. You might have seen a few upgrades over time. The logo, the slogan, the website, and even the books have gone through a few changes as well. Well, my books are making another change. This change isn't very effective, but I think it's time.
Last changes we did for book was the cover idea. Each book cover was postered on a poloid photo, now readers can view the book cover as though walking through the door.
This year we're changing the back cover. As you, the reader, knows back covers are usually where a summary of the book is placed. Shiver and Fears has always place it there, but now the summary is going to be changed. It'll be told in 1st person form instead of the original 3rd person.
I didn't say these changes were big, just different. Another thing that I'm working on is with another illustration partner. So the covers will be a bit different... again.
One thing that I hope will change is the thickness of the book. If you are new, then you might want to read about this. Shiver and Fears is only 20 chapters long. But most books haven't even reached to 100 pages. Although most have, each chapter of a book is about 5 or less pages long, and rarely more than that. This year my books are expanding. Want to know why? Check this out.

During the first set of years writing. I was a little impatient. I had an idea of the plot, but didn't know how to really widespread a chapter without being dull. For example, check out how I change this simple snip:

Sam ran through the forest. The wolf was behind him. Sam tripped over a branch. He knew it was over.

Now this is an idea of how I would write a story. Kind of simple and not much to work with. After doing some reading and years of studying, I think I've improved a little:

Sam's heart pounded against his chest running through the forest. Growls and snarls came from the wolf as it chased behind him. Sam rushed full speed, not realizing the branch was bound to stop him. He fell headfirst into the leaves and dirt. Sam was too tired to make another move. He knew that he had reached his end.

What do you think? I'm trying to be more detailed in my books now. But I tend to have a fear to overdose the chapters. I mean, I want to expand them, but I don't want 20 page chapters. Just want to go over the 100 page mark. So my estimate is 130-200 pages nothing near 400. It might mean Shiver and Fears will be a little more expensive. We'll see...

Now, you might be wondering what is the next book about. Well.. I'll give a hint. It not as detailed as you might think. So don't put too much thought into it.

Now here is my clue. The cover has nothing to do with the book. Skinny Creeps isn't a part of the book either. But what Skinny Creeps is has is the whole plot of the story.
Think you got it? We'll see once this book get's finished. Right now, 1 have 10 chapters to write!

New Shiver and Fears

So those who are wondering, yes, there is another Shiver and Fears book coming out. It's making small progress. It's been worked on for a few months and I'm having a little trouble. No spoiler, just know there's a thief on the loose and two strange new neighbors. Now you might be thinking 'Oh of course, the new neighbors ARE the thieves. No, not at all.
So what's the hold up? The answer is a little writer's block. This next book will host the original 20 chapters and the complex is around the revealing of the plot... So what's the issue? The problem is, how to plot the rising action before revealing anything in the complex. Not to mention, relating details in the rising action to the complex.
For those of you who might not understand author vocab, let me explain my problem another way. You see, I want parts of the story to relate to the problem of the story. And it has to make sense. Like in The Ghost Next Door: How Hannah had that dream about a fire, and why her family was nowhere in sight... SPOILER ALERT She's a ghost! Killed by the fire (she wasn't dreaming).
A Puppet Family is about a boy making friends. That's all you get from that! Someday it'll be published. Just need to figure out chapter 6.

It's A Brand New Fear... I Mean Year

This year Shiver and Fears has a whole bunch of new ideas! If you've been catching up with us on twitter or facebook then you've heard about Shiver and Fears and the new story An Old Bite. Without giving out too much of the story An Old Bite is about Justice Clark visiting his grandfather. As he comes for a visit Justice has a rash that won't seem to go away. During his visit Justice gets strange feelings about his visit and that his grandfather is hiding something. Could it be... Well I rather not give you too much detail!
Our next idea is to try something different. We're going to make our first book with an adult as the main character! Shiver and Fears makes stories about kids and teens, but we will soon change all that! We'll be different from Goosebumps and have the adult struggle in the situation... and have the kids not believe him! We will entitle it The Bus Driver of Doom! It was a story Shiver and Fears had already written, but  the plot was a little off so it was never published. Now we're ready, and this story will be great, we promise!
This year's Bookaversary party will be put together by not one, but 3 team mates. The first two parties were great but this year we want to do something a little extra. We're planning right now. This February we'll need your help to raise money to get everything set. Hope to see you there.
Through the year of 2017 you'll see a lot going on, Some may be old, but we still have new fears for the new years!

What makes Fears fearful? part 2

here's another fearful thought: You are now Salena and all you want is that cute boy to notice you. You're pretty, you're smart, but you're not the center of attention like the other girls. Not I know you're not scared yet, but what if while walking though a forest after shopping for valentine cards you almost get stroked by an arrow? "Ok, that's a little scary, but who was striking arrows?"
You find bow and arrow from a distance and take them home. And then, by mistake you strike your parents! Luckily they don't die, but fall in love! You realize these are cupid's arrows!
Still not scared, huh? Ok, ok so you try using the using the arrows on the boy you like and then everything is great right? WRONG! Cupid's arrows suddenly go missing and cupid demands those arrows back. How do you get something back if you don't know where they are?
Want to know where they are? In the hands of the most popular girl in school! Using all the arrows to be loved by everyone... Scared now?
What if I told you she's having the whole school hunt you down to be in her hands. You're trapped at school, about 1000 kids are looking for you. You're defenseless, you're to be a love zombie for the rest of your life. Are you scared?

I've watched a few horror films, they all have one thing in common: KILL, KILL, KILL!
It's seems one major way of scaring people in movies is to kill them all. You don't think that's true, do you? I mean how would you feel if you were home alone and lights began to flicker and you heard noise in the house, you walk to the front door and a giant hand reaching for you! Or what if a friend started peeling off his skin and became a life skeleton?
If you read a Shiver and Fears book, you may or may not get scared. But it's not just you who needs to get scared it's the kids as well. And being in a non-safe position is scary enough.
