Separation: Club and Program

So, if you've been keeping up, you've been waiting for the next blog about what's going on with Shiver and Fears. Well, here is the story, Shiver and Fears was on a vacation trip to Washington DC! Me and a youth group went there to meet and help a children's program called Little Lights.

To me, they are somewhat like Boys and Girls Club. It was an interesting adventure. I mean to think of the moment MLK made his speech... Ok wait, I'm off track - I'll tell that in another blog...

This one is about how we have a few new #1 fans. I had started a discussion about the club and the program. They were planned to be a part of the same thing. But now we have a few new members now. Does that mean they get to become authors?

Right now, the Young Author Program is set as a test. We want to check for any flaws in the idea. Right now, we have 5/7 fans working on an idea. Recently, we added another kid, he's not a club member, at least not yet.

About club members, we have two new members, one we met on social media and another who we know personally. (However, he's not official). So, what are the rules of the fan club? What limits does the program have? What makes a member so special? We're still trying to figure this all out. We never had a club, let alone a program. But here is what we know for sure.

CLUB MEMBERS

A club member get discovered when someone shows interest in Shiver and Fears. It's something noticable. We hear from multiple people they've read a book or watched a video, maybe even subscribed, but it takes more than that. Stuff like, sharing with your friends, tagging on your own media, comments and likes, even purchases and ownership of Shiver and Fears things. Something that shows you like Shiver and Fears, not that you've discovered it.

When this happens, I will send this person a decoding video, along with a message to decode. Once the message has been decoded, that person is a member of the #1 fan club. This means, any contests or giveaways we provide club members get the first word and choose whether or not to enter. Members are also invited to co-host in videos. (We haven't gotten that far yet).

AUTHOR PROGRAM

We don't really have an age limit for the Author Program, just that we call it the YOUNG author program. So, as of now we keep this program in the limit of those who can write and read. (That's about 1-5 grade) By 6th grade, a kid is writing reports and story prompts. Meaning they already are set to be an author. This would mean the project would have to run differently. (We haven't prepared that yet) So right now, we are in the testing stage of the program with only 7 entries.

So yes, we're helping young writers to become authors. Now, can any child enter in the program? Yes. Right this minute we have one spot open. Once again, we're testing this. We only want to work with 7 kids, whether or not they are club members. The club members were just the first invited.

That's all we have for now. I don't know how much this helps, but that's the story we have for today. Stay tuned, because we have a story to tell about Washington DC.

Magical Times are Slow

Everyone is waiting for the next Magical Times book to be published. WHAT?! You have no idea what I'm talking about? Magical Times, you know. The book series...

You never read one, have you? *sigh* I've written a total of 9 going on 10 Magical Times books and YOU NEVER HEARD OF IT? WHY???

Ok, I'm sure I've done this before, so I shouldn't do it again... but, here we go. *groan*

Magical Times is about my life in the future. But it's not about me, it's about my kids. Twin brothers, August and Chadly, and their little sister, Britt. This is an amazing series, because it's fiction, but with a small speck of truth. Now, even though this book is called Magical Times, it's not really focused on magic... It's about miracles! So, yes, this is a Christian book series.

You see, the three kids are training to use their special powers, a gift from Heaven, to learn to help other people. But there are some complications with the series, too. Ya see, the boys are neighbors with their dad's worst enemy from high school, and their sons are rivals as well. But August wants to learn why there's a feud between the two families, because his father... me, doesn't know what happened.

Meanwhile, his brother gets tied up in this mess when all he wants to do is learn how to control his own powers. The story gets a bit serious sometimes. However, it's all about teaching friendship, family, and Christian values.

Now, I shouldn't be doing this, because you should have been reading Magical Times since 2020. But here, Purchase here < click on that link and you get a copy of the book.

I'm only doing this because if you don't read these books, you're going to miss out on drama, action, and cliff hangers. Yep, this series is THAT good. So what are you waiting for? Buy a book now!

New Year, New Trades

Things have been running a bit different lately. Videos aren't as popular as they use to on youtube. They seem to be catching attention on TikTok, but Content ideas are slim. Check this one out yourself CLICK FOR VIDEO. Meanwhile books have been traveling to many places, and even though Walmart has added Magical Times to their website, they rejected adding it to their shelf.
Walmart has been getting on my nerves lately, just a few weeks ago, I ordered some equipment in December. Not only did I get it late in January, but the picture was NOTHING like what I received. I was completely tricked. It was obviously an online seller trying to sell a useless device.
Anyway, that's a whole different story. Magical Times is now spreading to more countries and states. In fact, a few books has sold over time. That was new!
Another thing that I have noticed is that music is becoming more noticeable. "On the Shelf" has gotten a couple of views, Although when I brought up the Valentine song, everyone seemed to turn their heads. As catchy as it is, and as close as Valentine's Day was, not one was interested in playing it.
Meanwhile, I'm sure you've heard about the snow attacking our states. It might become Shiver and Fears next hit. "Shiver and Fears: Trapped with Cabin Fever"
You might not think that's seems scary. Well, you don't know the story. And believe me, it's not as easy of a plot as you think.

Meanwhile, a new channel has arrived a while back. J.U.S.T Got Game. Have you heard of it? Let me just say, Shiver and Fears is not my only channel I work with.

Work is in Process...

Hey, just wanted to share with you that I'll be participating in the parade on Saturday representing Shiver and Fears 🎉🎊. I'll be passing around candy to the crowd downtown 🍬🍭. However, I'm not fully prepared yet. I still need to buy banners for the car, candy packets, and collect business cards. Passing out candy during the parade has always been a challenge for me 🤔. I can't throw it from the vehicle and there isn't enough candy to give to everyone. It will take around 5 packets to make one good load for just one side of the parade. I haven't even gone shopping for the candy yet and I know we won't have enough business cards to distribute to the crowd.

Winter has slowed down the progress, but I'm hoping to see you at the parade. It's going to be cold, but it'll be great to see our fans 👥. If you're coming, I have a "contest" for you. Take a picture of me at the parade and post it on social media with the hashtag #shiverandfears. You can also send it to my account. I'd love to share it on my stories 📸. You can find Shiver and Fears on Tik Tok, Facebook, and Instagram 📱.

FYI if you haven't already, follow me on Instagram and Facebook. Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day... even if it was already on Monday.

MLK Parade 2023- Shiver and Fears

There were so many fans at that parade, but just not enough cards and candy to pass out, not to mention not enough hands to get to everyone. It's hard work. To pass out to dozens of hands, catch up with your ride, and reload yourself every time.
Here's what I learned:
Don't share with those behind your ride, share with those in front. If you run ahead and hand candy or whatever to people in front, instead behind, the ride will catch up with you. That makes it easy to grab more candy than being behind, racing up to the car every few seconds and going further back to reach more people.

Get a load of 500+ I only had a load of 100 cards, I ran out before even getting to the heart of the parade and about 500 pieces of candy. We ended with a small load, (like 3 candies for each team member)

Everyone can't get what they want. There are over 10,000 hands who are begging for candy. My advice for that is only hand out candy to those who acknowledge you. I would wave around with a smile, not even showing off the candy, if they wave back, I give them a piece, especially if they were kids. That way you have a reason to give people your attention. It's like a secret message to the people. That way you're not choosing whoever and giving people a chance to greet you.

The last piece of a advice I is present your business with a catch phrase, shirt, or poster. There I was without a card to give to anyone, But, it was on my shirt, I had it on my poster, but what I felt helped people the most was saying "READING IS IMPORTANT, SO CHILL OUT WITH SHIVER AND FEARS!" Not sure how much it helped, but with that phrase hopefully people understand Shiver and Fears has to do with books and check it out based on the phrase, "chill out"

The video i have here may not show much. But you get whatever you can when you put together a team. But i want to know what you think we should do differently for next year's parade. Comment your thoughts.

What's on it's way...

If you recall last year, this was about the time the idea for What's Your Story was created and the book: Terror Tales 2 was published a few months afterwards. Well, get this. It's that time again, but this time it's not going to books, it's staying right here! Why go to Barnes and Noble to read a book made by kids, when you can catch them here.

Which means Shiver and Fears is making some changes. 1st of all, with ebooks being given away the website will have to add a QR code reader, since those are hard to come by (I've tried) and with kids writing stories, that mean we'll have to set up a whole new page for just them!

Wow, Shiver and Fears really is expanding. I just received news this week that Shiver and Fears has been welcomed into a public elementary school! Meanwhile, right now I am putting together a team for the Martan Luther King Parade

This is going to take time and money to get done, I'm sure it can happen. Meanwhile, with this being 2023 it's time to get back into the groove of writing, but what do the fans want? More fears? or maybe a little magic... We'll see. Just hang out tight, because this year, your chills are getting bigger.

Valentine from Shiver and Fears

So Shiver and Fears pass out two kinds of card every year: Christmas cards:

which feature one of our scary posts including Boo our ghost friend, Creeps our ice monster pet, or one of our monsters of the year.
A little too fearsome for Christmas I know, but it's what we use best.
Another card we send out to people is for Valentine's Day:
This year we are sending those to staff at an elementary school. Why? Because so many of those teacher have enjoyed our company. We have given away a load of audio books, enter students in contests, and are about to have a package sent to the school for the students to all go home with a Shiver and Fears book.
For any teachers reading this, Thank you for your support!!!
At this moment now though, Shiver and Fears is supporting Valentine's Day by joining in a party for young readers today!
Afterwards, Shiver and Fears author... me is going to spend the night on the Mrs. of Shiver and Fears. That's right, if you haven't already known. Although I am not married, there is a someday- future Mrs. Shiver and Fears in my life. Interesting news huh?
Who is this mysterious person? You may be wondering, well that's for me to know and for you to figure out!

The Results are In

The new book of Shiver and Fears is starting. Meet Carter Fuller, Aria Wilson, Mya Ivory, Cristal Lopez, Angelique Boyd, Nhayla Garcia, Jacob Huerta, and Jalynn These kids are involved in the new book Terror Tales: Into the Legendary Store.

Before, it was call The Creepy Store, but I think the Legendary Store is better. I mean each story hosts a legend given to each kid. Now before, I was only going to write 7 short stories. But Jalynn had to be added. Her story "The Loud Giant" was too interesting to pass.

So how can a story with 7 stories include an 8th person? Well, for one thing; I'm the author, so what I say goes. Secondly, Jalynn story will get a pause within the book. So now and then the book will run back to the story, giving more details on the whole book.

What's interesting about this book is it is the first book where different stories will connect as one. Kind of like the movie Shorts but only it's in order and not jumbled up.

Now, another Shiver and Fears book did something different once where the plot split between two people within the entire book. (not to confuse it with The Beast Within the Bed) But that's because of the plot twisted needed in the book.

Shiver and Fears doesn't do stuff like that often. However, if you go through Magical Times books they split through different characters all the time. Just because so many things are happening between the characters and needs more focus at the time than others.

Back to Shiver and Fears new book. While I work on this book and clean it up afterward, because doing this is going to be a total mess, another book will be worked on called That's a Story! It's about short stories made by 3rd graders. How many 3rd graders will write a story? I guess will have to see. Are you ready for this creative plot?

Loud and Proud in the Parade

Today was fantastic. Here I was watching the annual MLK parade in OKC. This year was differnt than all the others. Because of Covid 19 the parade had been sent viral.

As most of you may know I was a part of the parade back in 2020. This year I wasn't so sure if I'd make it. The first part of the parade was special sponsors who made their announcements and speeches about the whole parade. (Kinda like how they start a football game) Then the real parade began. Dozens of vendor sang, presented their work, and spoke. As this was happening I was sending the live video to all the fans and friends I know.

I couldn't miss a second of the parade because I wasn't sure if I had made it or not. As I started to comment and sponsor myself I heard a familiar noise. Click here for what it was.

Over 300 people were watching that parade and over 300 people comment how much they enjoyed each sponsor and vendor. Question is, how many of those people were my fans? I would like to think about a quarter of that crowd was for me. It's a special privilege to be a part of an event where we can all come together, whether it be Christmas or Martin Luther King!

8th Bookaversary, Shiver and Fears

Shiver and Fears annual book anniversary is today! Wow, to think one book started all this! Back in 2012 The Haunted Cell Phone was just manuscript on a computer, but soon became an idea for everyone to read.
Now we have reached 32 horror fiction books in 8 wholes years. Over 150 audio books from this series has been sold and made around $300 doing it! About 7 teenage tv stars have made an appearance video in Shiver and Fears behave. 3 books reviewers have commented about the author and his books (me).
Shiver and Fears has made contact to 1584 people on Facebook and has a total of 277 likes on Facebook and 342 followers on Instagram.
Now you gaze at this information and might be like "Don't sound so successful to me." But the truth is the fact that numbers do go up, and the fact that this series has traveled the globe to many english-speaking people, shows more than you think.
It's good to know the bookaversary still stands even with all this craziness going around. We'll be sure to check rating next year and compare how much has changed!
Happy Bookaversary!

An Author's Advantages

We've met a few new people last month. Of course there's Sehloho Rampai, our author of the month. One person I chatted with was
Ethan Wacker. Funny thing was my niece loved watching

Bizaardvark and one of her favorite characters were Bernie Shots.

(She felt bad for his push-aside character on the show.) But after the show she

was worried about him with the entire quarantine issue. I told her I might be able to

get a hold of him. "Ask him how he's doing?" she told me.

Now this was around the time I was writing my new book for Magical Times.
As I started writing to him, my niece asked me about my story. I told her
it was about magical twin brothers and their talking dog.
"Do you think Ethan would like to be in your book?" she asked.
I told her I wasn't sure, but I'd ask. Now, when I don't sell many copies of
my work, but I do have a collection of fans (my niece and a few of her
friends.) They were all excited to know if Ethan would like to guest star in
my story.
A day or two later Ethan messaged me back saying he would
love to star in my book. Hopefully, I can get this book done soon, because
I want Ethan to like it. Right now, you can catch a glimpse of the book
 at wattpad.com
If you haven't heard already, Shiver and Fears had quit working with
Lulu and is now looking for another print publishing company to work with.
I know, I know. Shiver and Fears is putting a hold on publishing for
now on as I said before, and we are. We're taking a break, while we look
into some options. But right now Ethan can't wait to read the
next Magical Times story. I bet you can't either.

"Love" Horror Fiction

Shiver and Fears are sending love to many fans in different ways. One way we are doing this is by having a giveaway. Fans are commenting "Love That Book" and are receiving audiobook codes. You can get your audiobook code by commenting "Love that book" on the blog.
We are also giving codes to the first 5 birthdays on Facebook. So far we've given over 11 codes so far.
Another way we are sending love to our fans is by having them meet Creeps. Who is Creeps? If you really don't know Creeps, you're really behind. He's our pet mascot, for the 10,000th time:
< This is Creeps!
He's Shiver and Fears mascot, we found him. He may look a little mean, but he's nice.
especially when you give him a Valentine!
This Valentine's Day we are passing out Creeps' cards to a bunch of children at a public school. Shiver and Fears actually will be making a few appearances to a lot of kids for St. Valentine's Day.
Now, you might think Shiver and Fears isn't very scary if the author is celebrating Valentine's Day because Valentine's Day isn't scary. If that's the case, you haven't read: "The Dangers of Love" a valentine favorite from Shiver and Fears <click here
Word of advice, you should wish Creeps a Happy Valentine's Day on social media, He doesn't like feeling alone for Valentine's Day and might go on a rampage if he feels left out. I mean just because he's an ice monster doesn't mean he doesn't have feelings. I mean, he does love his fans... especially for dinner!!!
Happy Valentine's Day!
