Illustration partner

Before I tell you some fun news let me make sure you know about what you alrweady know. My artist partner Randon Timberlake has re-illustrated a few book covers for Shiver and Fears. and he still is, but as time passes it might be time to work with another partner. So that's where this artwork comes in. If you haven't heard, Shiver and Fears got an upgrade with the book "Why I Don't Play Video Games" more gruesome huh? This was put together by Mei Wu and artist found on social media. We'll see how well this goes. Meantime, we're not sure if Random still wants to work with us. Who's artwork do you like more? Randon or Mei? Randon did his picture for the book "Puppet Family" Awkward don't you think? I think so for sure.

Meanwhile here is another fearing story to tell! We are monsterfying our fans early this year! Why, you may ask, here is what we're thinking: Starting in the month of October give us 10 days for entries, 20 days for votes, and 1 day to reveal winner. (broken up evenly) By starting in August, that's a whole month to enter in the contest, a month to chat with our judges and enough time to choose which monster is the best for the whole year!

This is an example of one of our monster fans. This isn't really the guy who entered, but he sent a picture of someone, I guess his brother, and we made a monster out of him. That's the fun part of the contest, it doesn't have to be a portrait of yourself, it can even be a drawing! Just as long as we have a name behind it, you're in.

We are encouraging social media fans to send us a picture by DM, but for you blog readers, enter the contest by sending your picture to shiverandfears@gmail.com. Just remember to add your name so if you win we know who it belongs to.

That's all we have for now, but if we have any more news... well, you know how to find us!

8th Bookaversary, Shiver and Fears

Shiver and Fears annual book anniversary is today! Wow, to think one book started all this! Back in 2012 The Haunted Cell Phone was just manuscript on a computer, but soon became an idea for everyone to read.
Now we have reached 32 horror fiction books in 8 wholes years. Over 150 audio books from this series has been sold and made around $300 doing it! About 7 teenage tv stars have made an appearance video in Shiver and Fears behave. 3 books reviewers have commented about the author and his books (me).
Shiver and Fears has made contact to 1584 people on Facebook and has a total of 277 likes on Facebook and 342 followers on Instagram.
Now you gaze at this information and might be like "Don't sound so successful to me." But the truth is the fact that numbers do go up, and the fact that this series has traveled the globe to many english-speaking people, shows more than you think.
It's good to know the bookaversary still stands even with all this craziness going around. We'll be sure to check rating next year and compare how much has changed!
Happy Bookaversary!

What's up Writer?

A few days ago Shiver and Fears 29 book was published. It's about a boy and his friends coming encounter with the town's legend The Burning Ghost. Things had been crazy lately. I spent a week in a hospital, then right when I was released was the moment the virus started to attack. Life is like a horror story itself now. I feel like I'm part of a zombie attack, aboard Noah's ark, or just hiding from the world itself.
I wasn't sure with this disaster if The Burning Ghost was going to get published in time. What was the hold-up? Once I returned from the hospital I spent a few days recovering from a sickness I wasn't even sure I had. Then I heard a virus was spreading all over the world, killing over 1000 people in its path. At this point, it was a depressing time. I mean it seemed like even the Earth itself couldn't even splash a light of sunshine without the darkness clouding over it.
Gruesome story huh? You would think with a story that gruesome Shiver and Fears would be inspired to write another book. Truth is, as much as I want to write the next story: The Happiest Show Ever or Magical Times without Granny what's really the point? Everyone is mostly at home spreading depression with stupid jokes about toilet paper and the virus and how April will be a total fun sucker, so they aren't really interested in to the contests and books I have to offer.
Plus I just finished The Burning Ghost after rushing the ending, I don't think now is a good time to start another book. I mean I wrote a couple of children fables on Wattpad and they only took 30 minutes. Am I really that good? Or am I just not enthused to write?
Work has been deadly slow lately. I work three jobs and now because of Virus X (That's what I call it), I'm on work lock-out. Maybe with everyone doing nothing I can sell a few audiobooks... We'll see.

"Love" Horror Fiction

Shiver and Fears are sending love to many fans in different ways. One way we are doing this is by having a giveaway. Fans are commenting "Love That Book" and are receiving audiobook codes. You can get your audiobook code by commenting "Love that book" on the blog.
We are also giving codes to the first 5 birthdays on Facebook. So far we've given over 11 codes so far.
Another way we are sending love to our fans is by having them meet Creeps. Who is Creeps? If you really don't know Creeps, you're really behind. He's our pet mascot, for the 10,000th time:
< This is Creeps!
He's Shiver and Fears mascot, we found him. He may look a little mean, but he's nice.
especially when you give him a Valentine!
This Valentine's Day we are passing out Creeps' cards to a bunch of children at a public school. Shiver and Fears actually will be making a few appearances to a lot of kids for St. Valentine's Day.
Now, you might think Shiver and Fears isn't very scary if the author is celebrating Valentine's Day because Valentine's Day isn't scary. If that's the case, you haven't read: "The Dangers of Love" a valentine favorite from Shiver and Fears <click here
Word of advice, you should wish Creeps a Happy Valentine's Day on social media, He doesn't like feeling alone for Valentine's Day and might go on a rampage if he feels left out. I mean just because he's an ice monster doesn't mean he doesn't have feelings. I mean, he does love his fans... especially for dinner!!!
Happy Valentine's Day!

First Post, New Decade

Happy New Year to the next decade of fans. Shiver and Fears has been growing lately, and I know it's because of the partners I have. That includes cousins, my illustrator, Randon, my voice narrator partner, Deontae my promotor, Tina, My support group on facebook, and my reliable friends.
Because of these people: books have been selling, more fans have favored AJ Hard, books and songs have been listed to places like iTunes, Walmart, libraries, Spotify, and still is growing over time.
In fact, Pier88 has AJ Hard labeled on their wall:

Not quite sure what's in store for Shiver and Fears this year, but one thing is for sure The work pays off. and maybe one day my work will reach something like 31K, but for now I'm just glad it's making progress.
You know they say I'm not famous because I'm not on tv, or because I'm not nationwide with fans, or even because I don't know a lot of celebrities. My thoughts are, that's not what makes you famous. What makes a person famous is being known out of your peers. When you write something, like a song or book, if it's good enough, people will let others know. And over time it'll grow. Everyone in the world may not know AJ Hard, or Asia Hardwick, but there are people who don't know Deon Mitchell or Kevin Hart or Ant Blades but they still have fans and thanks to you, I do too!

Christmas ADVENTURE

 Merry Christmas!!
I spent the last week and day (8 days people) on a boat traveling the Atlantic Ocean to 2 virgin islands and Nassau in the Bahamas. You won't believe what I've seen in these places.

multiple trees dedicated to famous Christmas movies (I don't know this one, but-

 this one represents The Grinch

This one was for Home Alone

We also walked around and found some unique animals. It's funny how they don't really fear people as much as they do here is the United States. Can you find the Igina in this photo? I know it's hard to see, but it is there... It's pretty big too.

I even saw the Grinch, I didn't think the famous Grinch would be added only because do you want your presents stolen by a green creature?

There were tons of gift shops with dozens of things to buy. I bought a few, but even though I agreed to myself I'd only get a few things there were still a dozen more things I wanted to get as well.

I even made a few friends. If they are reading this I just want to state I saw you guys on the other side of the street and tried to call you, but because I was with a group (and we were in a hurry) I couldn't chat with you guys. Plus I didn't think we'd see each other again, I mean it's a huge boat!! BTW: Rarely do I win at board games! Honestly!!!

I bought this shirt, i bet you don't know where. J/K When I saw it, it wasn't very interesting, so I decided to take it home and splash some color into it. I 'll be posting a video on YouTube with a thousand more pictures. Got the idea from a young youtuber himself explaining how he videos his cruises, so I decided it'll help get rid of the thousand photos, but still keep the memories.
You'll find a lot of interesting people on cruise boats, that is if you look for them. Otherwise you'll spend it with your group and chances are you'll miss out on some interesting games and activities. Not that I truly did. I mean I watch a musical about King Henry VIII six wives. They were the hottest girls on stage. I had to send them a letter, hope they got it. If any of those six girls are reading this blog, just know I fell head over heels for all six of you. XOX 😍😍😍😍😍😍
I did wonder was this musical like a thing, like High School Musical, or Swan Lake, or was it like a play put together for cruise boats... hmmmm, I'll have to look into that. Either way those girls could never be out beat. They WERE the 6 wives.
Well hope your Christmas or Hanukkah, or Kwanza, or whatever holiday you're into just remember. You don't want to invite this guy:

Save the date(s)

Here's the drill, I wasn't really expecting for Shiver and Fears to make a come back, but it is. Although, there aren't any books coming out this year doesn't mean this author isn't making a few appearances:
The first place I plan to be is at Juneteenth Film Festival. June 16th at 2. There I'll be working with Shiver and Fears and selling free audio books with special codes...I know, I know sounds awkward. You can't sell free things, but in my case you can. You don't pay for the audio book, for pay for chance to have an audio book.
Still not making sense?
Ok, so lets say you want an audio book. You pay $5, sign your email, and you'll receive an audio book with a code to listen to it for free.
Still don't get it? Forget it, ask me at the Juneteenth Festival

Next, is of course the book signing party. This year we have only 10 books to sell, so be sure to get there on time. This will be July 14th at 4 Now Shiver and Fears won't be involved here, but the book that will be at the signing will be Magical Times in a Deal of a Situation. We will have a dunk tank with two boys who love the chance to get dunked, I'm working on face painting, and  prizes will given away in a raffle. Don't worry, tickets are free.
What are the prizes this year?
Three water squirters and three hats. Only be cause we've already done shirts. We'll be serving hotdogs this year. This year we're low on money, so we're making it simple.

The final appearance I will be is at Best of Books. If you don't know where that is, it's in Edmond.
Edmond? Really? is probably what you're saying, but they were glad to hear a book writer wanted to make an appearance. This will be happening in August 11th at 1-2. There you can get your own copy of The Chill House, and I'm sure there's enough to go around.

At any one of these events you decide to get a free autograph bring your own AJ Hard book. There will be no charge for any fan who bring their own book to sign.
But remember:
  • $5 for the audio
  • $8 for the Magical Times
  • $6 for Shiver and Fears

What to do with these extra books

Shiver and Fears had an anniversary party a week and a few days ago. It went pretty well, if you watch the video you can see what's going on. Meanwhile the book signing went pretty well, but out of 22 books there are still some books left over. Those books are for sale for $10, but by September 13th they will be given to elementary schools and book stores. Meanwhile the money raised from the books is being used to help promote Shiver and Fears. So far some has been used on facebook, and youtube but the rest is being used for Shiver and Fears contest coming this December.
It's the best we can do with such a small amount of money. Wish there was enough for something like a buildboard ad or a commercial, but only a dreamer can dream big. Right now Shiver and Fears is working on another book. Bus Driver of Doom. If you haven't heard it's a story about a bus driver. More details once things get organized.
Now back to the extra books. You can email me your address and I'll send a book to your house. There's plenty for you to buy and even have it autograph. In fact two was sold not too long ago. I guess I should tell you which book is being sold.:
The Chill House is about a kid and his brother who go on vacation to a popular vacation spot, but things start getting weird because the boy's family disappear and (not giving much away) the kid even disappears... Now you might think I'm giving the story away, well I'm not because in order to understand what I'm talking about you need to read this book... Or listen to the autobook (sold online only) You may think you have enough time to buy this book, and you do Jjust remember, September 13 (My birthday) the books are given to schools, stores, and even neighborhood kids... (details on that later) Now, I have to ask you... Do you want one?

It's New but Also Old

A few months back Shiver and Fears book A Witch's Coincidence was written, but couldn't be published. The team illustrator was still working on the cover, and you can't have a book without a cover. We did the next best thing and sent it to a website where people write stories and share them with other writers. It was to stay there until the cover was complete.
It shows a character looking in the town newspaper where they talk about the town curse of having a witch walking amongst them. And in a way it looks like the girl cooking dinner as the brews her stew...  hmmm, could it be? or is it just... a coincidence. I sure won't tell.
So where do you buy this book? Right here< It can be found in a few other places too... ... ... well I don't know where! But it is! You just have to look. There are like 1000s of book websites, I'm sure you can find it on one.

More big news Shiver and Fears is getting another narrated audio book set. Sibling Subtraction is about a group of friends who trap their annoying little siblings in a trick, but really the jokes on them. I bet you want to know more huh? Well codes will be handed out this December... if you can survive that long!
Our physic friend here predicts a Creepy Christmas to bring a cold chill to who ever buys one! Don't believe me? Dare you to buy one then, and if you end on the news stated to be frozen we'll know where that came from!...

Do I Really Scare you?

I talked to a few readers and most of them said they don't read scary stories, that made me think about the 105 fans on facebooks and even you the bloggers. Do we really scare you or are you thinking because we're a horror book we're able to slip into your mind and make you scream?
You know there's that phrase that states you can't judge a book by it's cover. That phrase doesn't just go for books you think are boring, but also books you think are scary. I thought when filming our first Shiver and Fears video it was going to fearful:but one guy saw it and told us "What's scary about it?" Don't Play With Dolls is about a boy who gets teased for playing with dolls, so he tried getting rid of this one doll, but she keeps coming back. The thing is, this doll doesn't DO anything. She doesn't hurt anyone, she doesn't come to life, gosh, she's not even alive!
In the end you'll understand what's really going on... at least that's what I thought. Watch it to the end and comment if you do or not. You're the judge here.
Truth be told, I think the bloopers are better click here (WARNING IT'S 30 MINUTE LONG. 47 people think it's worth it though.
Will Warner made sure there were a few laughs.
I'm a little off track here. Just believe me when I tell you Shiver and Fears is scary, but not terrifying!
