Early Start in the Bookaversary

If you are reading this you are either a fan of my blogs, or you heard about the bookaversary this summer. This year we are doing things a little differnt. In the earlier years, Shiver and Fears would start a fundraiser in February- June and the money would go to food, prizes, decorations, and stuff like that.

Well last year I came to thinking. Why go through so much stress setting up a party. Coming up with games to win prizes, food to put together, and having a book sell too? Wow, seems too much.

So this year we're going to try something differnt. For one thing, we're going to make sure people enjoy the water part of the whole party, by hosting a pool party. Secondly no need to buy a collection of books to sell for the book signing when you already have the book yourself (especially when people are more interested in audiobooks)

Now food has always been free, but this year we're not just going to support ourselves. Shiver and Fears is going to support someone else too. This year Shiver and Fears is having a bake sale as well as a book sale.

Whio is our baker? She's new and wants to start a carreer in baking, so why not give her a chance to show her talents to everyone. Carson W. will be selling sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, (and a new cookie to honor Shiver and Fears) Sugar and Fears cookies.

Now I'm sure you see this photo and think; "Um, blue cookies... what's in them?"
But believe me, I took these cookies out to the public and they were a hit!" If things go well Sugar and Fears cookies will be on the market with other Shiver and Fears products...

Now the question has been, Why are we getting thing setted so early? It's only May and the Bookaversary isn't until July. Here's the answer: With less to concern about means more time to work on. This could cause a person to this less about it until last minute. that's when things become a struggle. Thinking of last minute ideas, prop that need to be set, that should have been set weeks ago.
Not to mention, with the obvious out the way, the second hand thought can start coming in. Like for instants. What can people do who don't swim? What if a storm comes in? What's the plan if the party is bigger or smaller than planned?
With only a few months ahead, the party is being put together pretty fast. But will everything be set in time? If you're coming, I'm for sure you'll enjoy it.

Let's Meet an Author: Aaron Lebold

You ready for another author?

Here's another good one: Aaron Lebold

Aaron wrote the book "Genocide" (interesting!)

click over here to check out the book yourself> Aaron's book

Aaron likes spending time with his family, exploring, camping, and hanging out with his cats.

Aaron doesn't have a website, but you can find him at https://www.facebook.com/aaronleboldblogs/

Aaron doesn't have a favorite genre, but Jack Kerouac is his biggest inspiration.

he chose horror mixed with thriller as his genre to write. but finds it difficult to figure out which genre his writing actually fits in.
What do you think about Aaron, sounds good to me. We want to hear from you on your favorite author(s) we've found. Which book would you read?

A Collection of Areas

We already disscussed about how Shiver and Fears is a big thing, and how my work may not be popular, but it is grabbing attention from people all over the place.I've chatted with Kyle Massey, Louie Crown, Issac Brown, and a few fans as well. Let me get to the point: So, my work has traveled to dozens of sites, and although I can't show you EVERY SINGLE ONE. I've highlight the main ones here: FLOWPAGE.

Which one was the most interesting to you? I will tell you, the most popular is the music on spotify! Everyone is loving the song On the Shelf! You tube is big too, there are not just songs, but vlogs, skits, and stories. My most favorite is Behance. If you check it out, you'll see why.

If you are an artist in books, music, or fashion, then you might want a flowpage too! To me, it's the easiest way to show all your work without a long list of links.

Sorry, I wanted to post this for you to see... What do you think? Scary, don't you think? You know they don't have a lot of monster shoe picture, not unless they are "cute" for kids. Here at Shiver and Fears, we don't want cute. We want fun scares! That doesn't include blood covered monsters eating babies. (No need to ask where that idea came from!)
Anyway, another thing I want to inspire you to do is check out more blogs about these author's we met with. They are pretty fun, once you get to know them. And hey we just had a monster parade on instagram, check that out too, @shiverandfears

The Answer to Your Question

Saturday I told you about why I'm not too concerned about editing. You might disagree with my choices, If you do, then understand you haven't left a comment post, so I assume I'm correct!
Now the question I left you with earlier is why am I going after adults when Shiver and Fears is for young readers? Here's your answer:
Who buys books online? Who handles mostly all the money? How many kids themselves have a social media account? Now, you might have an answer I can't disagree with, but once again, no comment means I'm correct.
The answer is mostly parents. Parents spent time shopping online and on social media, parents have hold of all the money (given the choice and give some to their child) So even if I can convince 5 kids to buy a Shiver and Fears book, they wouldn't be able to without a request to their guardian.
There's also another reason too, I grew up reading Goosebumps, it was my choice in reading for years. Now that I'm an adult I try to reach out to other adults my age who have a big chance of loving goosebumps as well. Because if they love Goosebumps, Shiver and Fears might interest them as well. Although they are the ones who would read and complain about grammar, it's important to understand editing isn't as free as publishing or as simple as social media promotion.
It's important to realize authors do their best and judging more on minor spelling and grammar mistakes than the story itself is very poor judgment to me and anyone else who wants to be a simple writer.
In fact, come back later this month and I'll show you how well a story can be told with minor mistakes!

Kyle Massey in the House!

2 months ago, Shiver and Fears published their audiobook starring Kyle Massey. Let me start by introducing Cory with this video:

So in honor of this occasion we placed him in our book No Body Park. Kyle Massey visits his aunt for a few days and noticed an empty park. If there's a park then where are the kids who play on it, it's a mystery Kyle wants to solve, but is he ready for the truth?
Think it's an interesting story? Want to read it? Well after waiting all these months you finally can. For the next two months we are giving away audiobook codes for audio copies of No Body Park. Our narrator Diontae Black was excited not only that he gets to read a Shiver and Fears book, but also one that stars Cory in the House, Kyle Massey.
If you want one, this give-a-way starts now! Comment why you want a Shiver and Fears audiobook and we'll send you one, while supplies last.

BTW: we also have a special guest coming this spring. Let's just say he's a friend of Creeps...

Save the date(s)

Here's the drill, I wasn't really expecting for Shiver and Fears to make a come back, but it is. Although, there aren't any books coming out this year doesn't mean this author isn't making a few appearances:
The first place I plan to be is at Juneteenth Film Festival. June 16th at 2. There I'll be working with Shiver and Fears and selling free audio books with special codes...I know, I know sounds awkward. You can't sell free things, but in my case you can. You don't pay for the audio book, for pay for chance to have an audio book.
Still not making sense?
Ok, so lets say you want an audio book. You pay $5, sign your email, and you'll receive an audio book with a code to listen to it for free.
Still don't get it? Forget it, ask me at the Juneteenth Festival

Next, is of course the book signing party. This year we have only 10 books to sell, so be sure to get there on time. This will be July 14th at 4 Now Shiver and Fears won't be involved here, but the book that will be at the signing will be Magical Times in a Deal of a Situation. We will have a dunk tank with two boys who love the chance to get dunked, I'm working on face painting, and  prizes will given away in a raffle. Don't worry, tickets are free.
What are the prizes this year?
Three water squirters and three hats. Only be cause we've already done shirts. We'll be serving hotdogs this year. This year we're low on money, so we're making it simple.

The final appearance I will be is at Best of Books. If you don't know where that is, it's in Edmond.
Edmond? Really? is probably what you're saying, but they were glad to hear a book writer wanted to make an appearance. This will be happening in August 11th at 1-2. There you can get your own copy of The Chill House, and I'm sure there's enough to go around.

At any one of these events you decide to get a free autograph bring your own AJ Hard book. There will be no charge for any fan who bring their own book to sign.
But remember:
  • $5 for the audio
  • $8 for the Magical Times
  • $6 for Shiver and Fears

It's A Brand New Fear... I Mean Year

This year Shiver and Fears has a whole bunch of new ideas! If you've been catching up with us on twitter or facebook then you've heard about Shiver and Fears and the new story An Old Bite. Without giving out too much of the story An Old Bite is about Justice Clark visiting his grandfather. As he comes for a visit Justice has a rash that won't seem to go away. During his visit Justice gets strange feelings about his visit and that his grandfather is hiding something. Could it be... Well I rather not give you too much detail!
Our next idea is to try something different. We're going to make our first book with an adult as the main character! Shiver and Fears makes stories about kids and teens, but we will soon change all that! We'll be different from Goosebumps and have the adult struggle in the situation... and have the kids not believe him! We will entitle it The Bus Driver of Doom! It was a story Shiver and Fears had already written, but  the plot was a little off so it was never published. Now we're ready, and this story will be great, we promise!
This year's Bookaversary party will be put together by not one, but 3 team mates. The first two parties were great but this year we want to do something a little extra. We're planning right now. This February we'll need your help to raise money to get everything set. Hope to see you there.
Through the year of 2017 you'll see a lot going on, Some may be old, but we still have new fears for the new years!

Why you should RSVP

Now a days rsvp doesn't really matter. When you're giving an invitation you just show up to the party and have fun, or not show up and do your own thing. Shiver and Fears will NOT accept this! YOU HAVE TO RSVP!!
Here is why: well our friend who is head of food, also known as h.o.f, wants a head count to bring enough food for everyone. But you see, I'd added to that!
So here's the deal you don't want to rsvp, that's fine, but that just means your name won't be in the drawing for a water blaster. That means so RSVP no chances of taking home a water blaster. But lucky for you Shiver and Fears is giving away t-shirts... for $7 and there's only 4... and it's at random.
Ok, ok so here's the deal you can win a water blaster IF you RSVP, you can win a shirt IF you buy a book, but if you don't RSVP and don't win a shirt, still be happy, you have an autographed Shiver and Fears book. But you probably want it free right? Well, you can. All you have to do is buy your own Shiver and Fears book... but you won't win a t-shirt...
So you can win a water blaster If you RSVP, you can win a shirt IF you buy an autographed book, and you can get your autograph free IF you buy your own copy, but your chances of winning a t-shirt is out.
Here's what I think you should do, RSVP by email or facebook or in person, spend $7 and get an autograph Shiver and Fears book (or buy your own to get it free) and have a splashing good time with the water balloons. You may get a t-shirt, you may not, you may get a water blaster, you may not, but with $7 you can get an autographed book for sure, even if you buy < your own copy!

Quiz me

So we already established you're no fan of Shiver and Fears an-... No, your not! Yeah, I'm sure your not! ... Have you even tried to be a fan? Read a book? Listen to one? Involved in ANY sweepstakes? Yeah, so your not a fan. But I will say thank for updating on blogs, I guess.
Anyway like I was saying we've established your not a fan, but does that stop you from trying this quiz? I'm sure you'd learn SOMETHING if you take this quiz... ok, so maybe just the character's names, but who's to say you can't just look it up!
Maybe there's another quiz you want, maybe you read a sneak peek on amazon and want a quiz on that... HAHA! Yeah right, we just went over how your not a fan. But why not be a fan? I've hears a ton of reasons: I don't have money, I don't have internet at home, I never have time, I don't read, I don't like scary stories, I don't have a facebook/twitter account,  I'm too old for those books, my kid is too young,
Believe the words coming out of my mouth as I type... YOU CAN DO SOME-THIIIING!!!!!

See it, like it, click it

Something I notice from my so called fans. They see it and like it, but do they really click it? The answer is no!! Don't think I don't know you on facebook see a post and don't click it. Do you even t these posts lead you to? No, of course not. You don't try the quizzes, the madlibs, the fundraiser, or the parties. you sit there, like it, and move on with your life.
That's why you don't comment, that's why you don't click it, that why you don't have a Shiver and Fears book.
Bet you couldn't tell me about this book here, or
this one here...
Do you even watch the videos?<
Prove to me your a fan: comment, share, click do more than just like. Cause believe me, I know!

Made 1 out of 20!

Check out Shiver and Fears Commercial. Ok, ok so it's on youtube. But it still has a message about the Shiver and Fears fundraiser. With it we have made our 1st 10 purchase goal.
We still need 90 more books which means $1900, so don't think your help isn't worth it. Remember one vote can make a difference in voting and one voice can change the world. So your help can do a lot of good.
And don't forget to message your email after donating, that way we can send you our gratitude with a free Shiver and Fears audio book. 4 donators are now happy to listen to their first audio book and wish for another, yep, that's how exciting they are. Not to mention, the choice is yours:

Do I Really Scare you?

I talked to a few readers and most of them said they don't read scary stories, that made me think about the 105 fans on facebooks and even you the bloggers. Do we really scare you or are you thinking because we're a horror book we're able to slip into your mind and make you scream?
You know there's that phrase that states you can't judge a book by it's cover. That phrase doesn't just go for books you think are boring, but also books you think are scary. I thought when filming our first Shiver and Fears video it was going to fearful:but one guy saw it and told us "What's scary about it?" Don't Play With Dolls is about a boy who gets teased for playing with dolls, so he tried getting rid of this one doll, but she keeps coming back. The thing is, this doll doesn't DO anything. She doesn't hurt anyone, she doesn't come to life, gosh, she's not even alive!
In the end you'll understand what's really going on... at least that's what I thought. Watch it to the end and comment if you do or not. You're the judge here.
Truth be told, I think the bloopers are better click here (WARNING IT'S 30 MINUTE LONG. 47 people think it's worth it though.
Will Warner made sure there were a few laughs.
I'm a little off track here. Just believe me when I tell you Shiver and Fears is scary, but not terrifying!

What makes Fears fearful? part 2

here's another fearful thought: You are now Salena and all you want is that cute boy to notice you. You're pretty, you're smart, but you're not the center of attention like the other girls. Not I know you're not scared yet, but what if while walking though a forest after shopping for valentine cards you almost get stroked by an arrow? "Ok, that's a little scary, but who was striking arrows?"
You find bow and arrow from a distance and take them home. And then, by mistake you strike your parents! Luckily they don't die, but fall in love! You realize these are cupid's arrows!
Still not scared, huh? Ok, ok so you try using the using the arrows on the boy you like and then everything is great right? WRONG! Cupid's arrows suddenly go missing and cupid demands those arrows back. How do you get something back if you don't know where they are?
Want to know where they are? In the hands of the most popular girl in school! Using all the arrows to be loved by everyone... Scared now?
What if I told you she's having the whole school hunt you down to be in her hands. You're trapped at school, about 1000 kids are looking for you. You're defenseless, you're to be a love zombie for the rest of your life. Are you scared?

I've watched a few horror films, they all have one thing in common: KILL, KILL, KILL!
It's seems one major way of scaring people in movies is to kill them all. You don't think that's true, do you? I mean how would you feel if you were home alone and lights began to flicker and you heard noise in the house, you walk to the front door and a giant hand reaching for you! Or what if a friend started peeling off his skin and became a life skeleton?
If you read a Shiver and Fears book, you may or may not get scared. But it's not just you who needs to get scared it's the kids as well. And being in a non-safe position is scary enough.

What makes Fears fearful? part 1

In Shiver and Fears what makes "Fears" so fearful? Well, in The Unlucky Charm our main character, Trevor Silver is dealing with bad luck.
His fear starts when finding a rabbit. Now you ask "What's scary about a rabbit?" Tell me this, what if you were at home alone and you turned to your bedroom door and a rabbit, not just an ordinary rabbit, but a blue rabbit was hopping pass your room.
Now you would wonder where it came from, or even did you even see it correctly. So you rush out your room (because you don't want to miss it), follow it down the hall (or wherever you saw it going) and catch it in the living room.
Now you notice something weird about this rabbit: 1 he only has three paws, 2. he's the same color as your rabbit's foot necklace, and 3 (the most obvious) HE'S IN YOUR HOUSE! How are you feeling? What if I told you he has sharp teeth and tells you "Give me back my foot." ? are you scared?
You might be saying, "Just give it back," but do remember Trevor Silver A.K.A "you" suffer from bad luck, and this charm is helping you avoid it. Do you still give it back? Well it leaves you with a choice 1 give it and go back to bad luck, or keep it and fear the rabbit's eyes stalking you.
Now you're probably sitting like "What is a rabbit going to do to me?" That's something the rabbit is planning, but you can imagine whatever it is (as a teenager) what he could do... Now I ask, are you scared?

Working on it

So here's the update for Shiver and Fears: Facebook fans had risen to 104 likes as we celebrate the October birthdays. Some have asked us what's so special about the birthday song to only play it in October? The answer is that they're in October, the month of Halloween, the perfect holiday to theme Shiver and Fears books.
Instead of a Happy Birthday, they should have a horror birthday (Not to confuse it with Horrible birthday. We're not monsters, just scary artists) Meanwhile as we wrap up the October month we work on another project.
We are selling shirt, just to see how it goes. No special reason, just want to get something of ours to sell. It'll only be for the fall season, and it's not world wide. Just for friends and family.
Now if you are interested in Shiver and Fears stuff you know we have a store > at zazzle. But if your interested in free stuff we do have that give-a-way, It'll last until December, that will be the time when we start ordering the gifts and sending them to the fans.
Hope our work makes a dent in our actions, you know it's not always easy making your work a success!

Read it or Hear it

When Shiver and Fears started it was all written in books, later we've decided to upgrade to kindle, after kindle we wanted to video and trailer all our books (which is still a working process) But Shiver and Fears have now upgraded into listening to our books. We've only got one book for sale, but in 2016 think about all the book we'll have in audio.http://amzn.com/B014181ITI  Not only are we at amazon, Shiver and Fears is sold on audible and iTunes too. My partner Douglas Taylor is an amazing reader as he catches the fear and excitement of the characters. Our next audio story is The Haunted Party. it's still a working process...

Shiver and Fears: The Unlucky Charm

Shiver and Fears had a friend work on a trailer for a the first publish Shiver and Fears book. It's pretty scary like. Sure if it was real 1000 of people would watch it. Would you be one of them? I dare you to check it out. Wouldn't blame the fear in your eyes. Our actor Will Warner sure does.

Meet Shiver and Fears

It's time you were introduced to a new book series. Meet Shiver and Fears. I've done a lot of work with this series. It's not just a book, but a movie. It's not just a story, but a story involving actual people. It's not just something to read, but something to get involved with. Every now and then someone ask where to find a Shiver and Fears story, but realize. It's not hard. It's as popular as any book you read. All books have the same cover A polaroid picture of: a girl writing in her journal with a stranger behind her, a boy in bed with a monster underneath, a girl in the forest attacked by an arrow, or even a boy being held in the arms by ghosts. You can't say you can't find AJ Hard's book, because what book store doesn't sell them? Everyone's taken the challenge and none were able to answer. Now that you know where to buy a book when are you going to buy one? Or even better, listen to one?
