Young Author's Club part 1

Coming this spring we are starting a young author's club... Wait, did I mention this? Maybe I did. Well then what about the new book edition. Did I tell you about that? Good.

 Let's talk about that first.

So Shiver and Fears books have been getting a new look every now and then. We've advanced from a poloroid picture to an open door, now we've advanced to the ripped page idea.

And things keep changing. Ideas keep coming in. So Shiver and Fears books may not have an exact image right now. But we're still looking for it.

We want something that grabs people's attention. That's why we change the color and the texture for each book.
We even try to think of colors that haven't used yet. I feel like we have some greens and blues, but what about reds, and orange, maybe a purple?
We want it to go well with the texture and match with the book itself.

So what's this right here? This is not Shiver and Fears new book, but it is a new edition. If you've ever read a Shiver and Fears book, then you know, like ANY series you may watch or read, things change over time.

Think about Spongebob and how clueless Spongebob has become, or how in Big Bang Theory, the character Amy was all scientific talk, but now has feelings and speaks up.

Think about how Timmy Turner has gone from an imaginative 10-year-old to a reckless, carefree character...

Now, some characters have grown over time. Some have just changed. That's what SHiver and Fears is up to. We've changed to a carefree writing technique, to a author study.

Want to know what I mean? Pssh, you know how to get the answer. Read one of the first few books I've written, then read a recent one.

It doesn't just happen to me, Youtubers, cartoonists, even a yearly party host has upgraded themselves overtime.

Who knows, maybe you've changed a bit too.

OHH WAIT... The Author's Club...

New Plans for the New Year

Well the year is finally coming to an end. Let recap on everything that we've done this year:
We've grown Shiver and Fears from a book series into a publishing company. As we have now created a new book series which has carried to new locations.
Our monster friends of the year have made appearances to new fans all season long. We now have a fan club and will be connecting with them a lot more. (This is a starting process as we have never had a fan club and do not want to take full charge of it)
So far we've sent them all a message about our next event. Which we would tell you, but as a natural fan, we can't. Meanwhile, if you are a number one fan, then you should have a code that tells you about our next event. (Comment if you've lost it)
Shiver and Fears have been giving audiobooks to every friend who's birthday has come up. Well, everyone but Caden. He knows what he did! We don't appreciate behavior like that. Anyway, this is a new thing we do for birthdays, along with giving an ecard, which you can find on our site on the GAME tab.
This card is different, because it will exist for the whole year, unlike last year which lasted a few months.
We have chatted with our web designer team, and we have decided to add a Magical Times tab and shut down our "online store" AGAIN! (Seriously, why do we keep doing this?)
A new coloring book has been created AND unlike the last Shiver and Fears coloring book, this one is public. As of now, Walmart hasn't posted the cover of the book, but we are keeping a watchful eye on their lazy team and are will be making sure they treat us with respect.
Lastly, our latest audiobook has still not been published to the public, BUT we are selling it. This Magical Times audiobook has been in waiting all year because of a disagreement on publishing and miscommunication. Hopefully our narrator has some time to speak with us.
But what is in store for 2026? Well like every year, a request for a new Shiver and Fears books has been made. So we're placing a goal for 2026. 10 books are to be published 5 Shiver and Fears, 5 Magical Times. We are hoping to reach that goal and be more productive.
Speaking of productive, our product partner, Animated Eclectics, has apparently shut down... We have given what seems to be our last Shiver and Fears pillow to Promethus.
And I have no idea if our other products are still in store.
In fact, since products haven't sold in 2025, we're closing them for 2026. Not even sure why we even made products, it didn't work when we had our own store.
Meanwhile, what can we look forward to in this adventure? I let you imagine that.

Books and... Video games?

Let’s take a break from discussing books and talk about video games! Since "Shiver and Fears" is on a break this year, I’ve created a new video segment on social media focused on playing video games. Sometimes, my friends and I come together to play a variety of online games. While we often play on Roblox, we explore other games as well.

One game we really enjoy is *TOGETHER*, which was introduced to us by the founder of J.U.S.T. Got Game. However, it’s not the only game in our lineup. We also play games like Scribbl.io, Gartic Phone, and Dress to Impress, among others. The tricky part is that we need to keep the content kid-friendly since we’re creating videos for a younger audience. Some members of our group struggle with maintaining a child-appropriate rating.

We recently finished a video where we tackled a maze of levels. Some levels required a lot of time and teamwork, while others were quite simple—we just made them more challenging for fun!

If you're a video gamer, check out the games we've played! And hey, don’t forget to leave a comment. I see a lot of views, but I’d love to hear from the audience as well. Share your thoughts, and we’ll respond—don’t worry! ✌✌

Local Retailer Introduction

What you see here is not just another book. This right here is Shiver and Fears first book to be distributed to local retailers!

This book has the new and approved cover illustration that everyone is excited to see. With it's ripped title reveal, slightly slanted door and the series number now included. Now, you as a familiar fan will recognize that Shiver and Fears books have been constantly been upgraded repeatedly starting off with it polaroid image and it's usage of icicles side frame. These cover ideas were not bad, but needed something to stand out. The open door image idea was still a working progress and let's hope it's made a final choice. But we all know things continue to change when it comes to creative ideas.
Now back to this retailer business.

Ingram Spark has accepted Shiver and Fears books to work and distribute this and other books. Now question is? How does this work? I'll be honest, I'm still learning myself. I mean, how does this make a difference from when I was going to Barnes and Noble telling them to place this book in the store and them stating "It's not possible?"
Well there are a few words, that I'm still learning and understanding such as Wholesaler, Distributor, Retailer that make the whole marketing system be put into place. From how I'm seeing it, if you have a business, you need to buy your products somewhere, and you need to buy it in bulk. Well, of course if you buy online, they don't come in bulk. They come individually, so maybe that's one thing.
But if you need a product, you still need to buy it. And you'll want to buy it somewhere where it's always provided and they have everything you need.
Now imagine, if you are starting a business, buying your products one by one takes too much time. So of course you go to your supply closet,  the distributor, and buy it there. Now, if someone tries to sell you their product, they probably sell it in a bundle. That means you're repeatedly buying it from them to use and sell it. But why get something that's not in your supply closet? You may need it you may not, right?
So, in that case it shouldn't go straight to the seller, retailer, it should go into their closet... Not that's how I see it. Now this wholesaler is a mystery to me at the moment. And even what retailers to turn to for such a request is a mystery. Especially when contacting them.
Can you imagine how a business has a social media and a website, but no email address? or phone number? and then not to mention the email or phone number provided doesn't even lead you to where your trying to go. Imagine driving to a location to find a park, but there instead is a map that leads you to other placed BUT a park!
Oh brother!

Shiver and Fears fan fiction

We have recieved a book cover illustration from a young boy, who has an art for story telling. This  young artist made a Shiver and Fears cover to be placed in the art gallery. His story idea: The Farmer and the Werehare has impressed me.

When hearing the title, it made me think about fables. Now, fables are not scary, but are life lessons within stories. So this is very unique to me. This cover makes me want to write the story in the form of a fable. It would be something different in Shiver and Fears history! However, due to this title not being my idea, I can't do so. But that doesn't mean that Shiver and Fears can not start an idea from this.

Now, I won't give it away, but maybe one day I will create a book with this fan art as my inspiration. The ideas are endless!
Now, as for you, maybe your book cover idea can do the same. I say give it a shot. Create a perfect title for Shiver and Fears to want to read, and create the cover for it. Kids can do it, and they tend to draw a lot of fun shapes. So I encourage you to give it a shot.
So, what are you waiting for? MAKE THAT COVER!

Tough Butter part 2

If you've read the blog from yesterday, then you've been informed about the hard struggle of telling people about the Author Fest event. But what is this blog about? This blog is about everything else that I am responsible for.

For one thing, I just got word that after 2 months the new audiobook has FINALLY been published. Now I have 50 codes to give away, and I have no idea how to give them away!

I also have over 100 cups, over 20 books, 50 stickers, and 5 pillows to sell. Where does a person like me get this stuff sold at? There are nearly a dozen marketers who say they wish to help make progress, but of course, they are wishing for payment. I don't have time for this!

I would give payment to someone who is willing to help grab attention, but there are no promises. I have dealt with some marketers before; they have grown my followers list on Instagram, posted me in multiple areas on Facebook, and have had interviews which are somewhere on a podcaster's list, but look where I've gotten to...

So I'm not in the mood to pay someone who can't promise me a change in public attention. Have you been messaged by someone on Instagram who states they want to present you? I've told them multiple times to go ahead and present me with no cost. I never hear from them again.

That's why I'm hoping to get some attention with my idea of publishing other young writers. They shouldn't have to go through junk like this. Someone who wants their story and get paid for it. TOTAL SHAME. Editorial service costs about $50 for every 500 characters. PLEASE! It's even more struggling when you try publishing audiobooks. Payment, payment, payment, that's the only way to get help.

Not for me. I'm willing to help young authors write stories because I'm not concerned about money. I have a job already, so why ask for more just to be helpful? I get companies, but some of these people work for Fiverr. They mostly get paid when they get a position for their work. It's like celebrities who present themselves at Cameo.

Anyway, enough complaining about this "help" that I get offered. It's hard to try to get attention to sell books, pillows, audiobooks, and stickers when there's nowhere to present yourself. I mean, a video about the cool stickers I have gets about 120 views on TikTok, 23 on Instagram, and 20 on YouTube and completely unknown on Facebook, but I can only guess 0-3. That doesn't include comments or likes. Those are around 0-7, and that's IF you combine them.

In other words, publicity is complicated!

Tough Butter

I wasn't really planning on doing a blog story today. But this had to be announced, because I can't hold this information any longer. Before I tell you what it is that's got me pacing the floors, let me tell you what's rolling through my mind first.
So this month is the author Fest at Enid Library. If you've seen any posts on social media you know I've been bringing this up for a while now. It's almost getting to the point of being annoying. But you can understand the concern when you've made an announcement about this and you end up questioning if anyone has seen it. Let me tell you, Facebook keeps no record of views, just likes and that's not much since facebook mostly presents to close related people. Let's talk about Instagram. That is a site that might get attention, but only for popular information, funny clips, and celebrity content. It seems to only reach out to those who have a relation to the topic, and (correct me if I'm wrong)  new author's don't have a place in that. Youtube does no good. Once again, it's mostly the attention for movie/ tv buffers, pointless "funny" clips, video games, and sometimes music.
Lastly there is TikTok. Now you an get away with a lot on Tik Tok. But it's mostly for good laughs.
What is the point of all this bashing on different social medias? This all leads to the point I'm trying to make about what it takes to get attention from an audience from social media. It's the quick terms that seems to spread out the most. Those are the videos that stand for about 60 seconds or less. Hard to get full information of that. Reels seem to spread pretty far, but they only seem to spread to the best categorized audience. Which of course are for those who make pointless funny videos.
Now this is coming from experience. Because some videos reach to 200 views, others reach to 1000. What makes them different? What your audience care about more. Art, TV, and jokes. At least, that's what I tend to notice.
This all leads to the question of who is interested in the Author Fest in Enid?

Now that's half of the story. If you want more, read the next blog, coming tomorrow!

That should have been you!

I don't want that to happen. If I give out free books to my fans, I want it to be given to a person who checks the website monthly, watches Shiver and Fears videos, even has a few books on their shelf.

If you become a super fan, show me! Post a comment using the Shiver and Fears code. and I will write you back. Or at least try to.

Shiver and Fears has been busy!

It's getting to be that point of the year when I, as the author of Shiver and Fears put my attention to the joy of Christmas, I mean Creepsmas. What is Creepsmas? you might be asking. It's a haunted parody of the holiday thousands of people love. What's so different about the two? You might think that we include more scary gifts into the mix than what's for Christmas.
No, not at all, the difference is that we sent a random set of fans a Shiver and Fears gift. This year our gifts were provided by Barnes and Noble and VistaPrint.  We are given a total of 10 books, 5 winter beanies, and some eBooks.
Then afterwards, I have my own Christmas shopping to do. for my friends, family, and a little for myself. For the past few months, Shiver and Fears has been grabbing a whole load of attention. I've hosted 2 book signings, presented tons of art work, read madlibs made by kids, passed nearly 100 buisness cards, set up contests, hung flyers, and passed out the remaining color changing pencils. But fans are wanting to know the big story. What is my next book going to be about?
Well, stay tuned, because I made a choice to spend this year focusing on Shiver and Fears attention growth, now that this year is nearly over, my next book will come into mind. Right now, I have a special gift in mind.
But as for now I have to line up my events. The first one to come up is the school Creepsmas giveaway. Who will be the owners of new Shiver and Fears books? Only Santa will know... No, we don't have a horror parody of Santa, he's just Santa Claus! (No, not with a 'W')

Secret Site

Guess what? Shiver and Fears is found on a secret site! Don't believe me? Want to know how? It's a very interesting story:

A few years ago, around the time Shiver and Fears was first in the making, I had found a website where writers can post their stories for the public to read. It was a great idea at the time. However, things didn't work out well. For one thing, Shiver and Fears was still in work in progress in gaining attention, so the original plot was to write books.

This would mean no story ideas would be finished because all the attention would go the books, not the stories. Another issue about this site was so many ideas would come to mind all at once, So some ideas weren't published for the public. This means that time on writing had been avoided so much, the process had been forgotten.

This leads to the final reason why this secret site has been kept in the dark. This was around the time that "Magical Times" was beginning to become an idea. First, it was supposedly a story about my family living in my house. This was an idea because at the time, My sister and her daughter moved in with us temporarily. It was an idea that would never make it to books, because it was too realistic and rude to the family. The idea had been scraped!

Shiver and Fears was picking up a few years later, at this point the site was forgotten and was never mentioned again.Once other sites were gaining popular noticed by Shiver and Fears, search sites, such as GOOGLE began finding the most popular sites to mention Shiver and Fears. These sites include: Barnes and Noble,  Amazon,  Blogger, ACX, and the official site: Shiverandfears.com

Can anyone find this said site and recall any AJ Hard originals story ideas? Don't think so! You know why? Because I don't even remember this site. And so this mystery site will remain a story FOREVER!

Sell Books and Give Aways

Shiver and Fears is working on a new process this year. Not only are we hosting the annual  Monsterfied contest but we are giving away and selling Shiver and Fears to our fans.

So far we are at our 6th book being sold. As for our give away last month, The firefighters and our young winner are both enjoying their copy and shirt from Shiver and Fears.

Now let's tak about the dominoes from before. What are we going to do with those? We're giving those away this Halloween season. How? Well we always keep our contest simple. Either by how many people respond, or just by number pull. But I want to do this one a little different... I got some time to think about it, but if you have any ideas, let me know. It's always good to hear suggestions from fans who like Shiver and Fears merch.

But as of now Shiver and Fears is still collecting entries for the monsterfied contest and introducing Boo the ghost. Hopfully byu the end of the school year we'll have eyes all around wanting more Shiver and Fears!
Maybe you are one now!

Early Start in the Bookaversary

If you are reading this you are either a fan of my blogs, or you heard about the bookaversary this summer. This year we are doing things a little differnt. In the earlier years, Shiver and Fears would start a fundraiser in February- June and the money would go to food, prizes, decorations, and stuff like that.

Well last year I came to thinking. Why go through so much stress setting up a party. Coming up with games to win prizes, food to put together, and having a book sell too? Wow, seems too much.

So this year we're going to try something differnt. For one thing, we're going to make sure people enjoy the water part of the whole party, by hosting a pool party. Secondly no need to buy a collection of books to sell for the book signing when you already have the book yourself (especially when people are more interested in audiobooks)

Now food has always been free, but this year we're not just going to support ourselves. Shiver and Fears is going to support someone else too. This year Shiver and Fears is having a bake sale as well as a book sale.

Whio is our baker? She's new and wants to start a carreer in baking, so why not give her a chance to show her talents to everyone. Carson W. will be selling sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, (and a new cookie to honor Shiver and Fears) Sugar and Fears cookies.

Now I'm sure you see this photo and think; "Um, blue cookies... what's in them?"
But believe me, I took these cookies out to the public and they were a hit!" If things go well Sugar and Fears cookies will be on the market with other Shiver and Fears products...

Now the question has been, Why are we getting thing setted so early? It's only May and the Bookaversary isn't until July. Here's the answer: With less to concern about means more time to work on. This could cause a person to this less about it until last minute. that's when things become a struggle. Thinking of last minute ideas, prop that need to be set, that should have been set weeks ago.
Not to mention, with the obvious out the way, the second hand thought can start coming in. Like for instants. What can people do who don't swim? What if a storm comes in? What's the plan if the party is bigger or smaller than planned?
With only a few months ahead, the party is being put together pretty fast. But will everything be set in time? If you're coming, I'm for sure you'll enjoy it.

Wait, it was just a dream?

Last night, I had a dream... No this isn't about Martain Luther King Jr. This is about the bookaversary!

I was walking outside when i ran into my cousin Jerome. We were chatting a little and had mentioned he was a father. Now, I was shocked because Jerome is in high school.

As I was shocked he changed the subject and asked about the bookaversary party for Shiver and Fears. I wasn't too much worried about it, because for some odd reason I didn't think anyone really cared, so niether did I.

Then out of the blue a news reporter joined in and wanted to know more about the Shiver and Fears bookaversary party anouncement. I had no idea on what to say. Then to make things harder high school friends and fans were static about when the party was, where it was and what were the plans.

I was amazed and mentioned with enthuse, "Well, this year it's going to be a pool party." and everyone grew excitment.

When I awoke this morning, I starting thinking about how things usually go. Fund raiser on February, Equipment buys over the spring, and set up for games and prizes during the summer. Things are different this year, we aren't in need of a fund raiser, but it's true this year we plan a pool party, and of course a live feed!

As things get closer idea keep flowing. I'm excited about this years bookaversary. Hope you are too!

she enjoys traveling, foodie (never heard of that), Spending time with friends and family, going to good concerts (Bet she'll like my music)

She writes nonfiction and reads fiction and suspense...it varies (We'll have to send her a Shiver and Fears book. Bus Driver of Doom might interest her)
From what we know, Genesis has just started publishing books. The Chocolate Drop book was released in May 27th 2020 not only to amazon, but to kindle as well.Genesis even wrote a 2nd Edition of Chocolate Drop in Corporate America: From The Pit To The Palace and was released February 20, 2021

Some extra news we found about her is that she works with Pearly Gates Publishing Co.

If authors feel the need to share more information, we use what we think is important. Not that you have to, only if you want to.
From what we were told Genesis can be found in multiple places. Find them at linktree and find her book on amazon.

Changes for 2021

With this being the last year of 2020, it gave me time to think how to make Shiver and Fears (and Magical Times) more popular. What I plan to do is sell books myself and a few other things. Over the year of 2020, Shiver and Fears has gained popularity with monthly give-a-ways and Instagram followers.
This gives me the thought that it's time to show them what I have to offer in this entire business without having them being pushed somewhere else to do so. No more telling people to "go to" in order to learn more. It's time they get that information front hand.
I am planning to sell printed copies of Shiver and Fears books instead of letting the book store do it for me. Now this doesn't mean you can't buy a book from Barnes and Noble or even Amazon. This just helps other have an easier access to books. What I want to do is sell by prints and emails along with key chains figures, and maybe even T-shirts... Maybe.
2020 has been a hard year but has made my work grow a few inches. Now, although Magic 104.1 KMGL hasn't accepted me, I know a few of you have. Thank you and keep being there, because I need it. If you would like a printed or emailed a copy of an AJ Hard original contact me at Facebook or here on the blog... and then of course there's email. Hope you know that one!

World-Wide Books

First of all I want to say, if you live in Oklahoma you know this weather is totally crazy. Rain, wind, and sunshine. Over... and over... and over again.
Now that we've settled that let's talk about books:
First of all, let me say that my next book is the Shiver and Fears series is called The Puppet Family. About a boy meeting two new friends and meanwhile getting involved in a kidnapping. Right now the book is on hold due to the book illustrator, Randon Timberlake. The cover should be ready in just a few more days. Once it's drawn, I'll be coloring it. So it should be ready by next week.
Next, I want to say The AJ Hard collection (Shiver and Fears) and (Magical Times) have been posted on book stores all around the world in audio and in paperback. So what's next on my agenda? It's time I pass around the word that Shiver and Fears deserve the attention from it's audience. This summer I'll be going to Missouri for the annual camp of KAA. There might be a few kids there who would love to meet an author.
Another thing is I'm thinking of is to do a live video of chatting with pedestrians at The Village Library about checking out Shiver and Fears. Kinda give it like a  "Secret celebrity" vibe. I also want to do a contest on Instagram, but I have a feeling it might fail, but never not try something just because you doubt it.

This funding will help promote The AJ Hard collection to as many readers as possible. Check it out. And don't be afraid to check out the many sites f Shiver and Fears

New illustration

Well anyway, if your looking at the cover and thinking it needs some work, you're right. 2 weeks ago I chatted with a young artist, Randon Timberlake, and he's agreed to do the illustration for the books. Here is our book now:
I did the coloring, but the drawing came from my partner. If you read this book, you might notice some flaws in the writing. Well, the first few books I've written, I wasn't too focused on paragraphs. But after a few years, it grew on me. I'll get work on that later, right now I'm trying to finish A Puppet Family. At this moment right now I have 4 chapters to finished, send it to y editing partner, Cody, and then Randon will draw the cover. Want to know what his creative side is like? I do too. You'll see in Shiver and Fears 27th series.

Contest Rules on Social Media

So here's what happening this week. I'm setting up a give-a-way and hoping this will get Shiver and Fears more attention. This is different than what I've ever done before. Some of you might know about the amazon give-a-way I hosted on Amazon.com. It was good, but not as good as I wanted. Long story short, here's my contest:
As some of you might know after 8 years Shiver and Fears is having it's anniversary, it's bookaversary! So since there is no party this year we're doing something different. We'll be at the Village Library doing a live feed talking with young readers and others about Shiver and Fears and hopfully we can get your attention too on facebook. (let's see how that turns out.)
Sorry, lets stay on track here and talk about this give-a-way. It's time Shiver and Fears gets some attention. Now, on instagram there's a ton of likes, on twitter it get's passed to a few people, on a good day, and facebook... it's a little quiet... Let's change that! I will give a fan a prize if they can gain 25 points in a week on Twitter or Instagram:
Like a post= 5 points
Leave a comment 10 words= 10 points
Comment an answer= 12 points (I'll post a puzzle)
Follow #shiverandfears= 15 points (instagram)
Comment 10+ words = 20 points
Post with #shiverandfears = 25 points

Now question is, who is going to get those 25 points? What post of mine will you put a heart on, or will you leave a comment? Think you can solve a rebus puzzle? Or follow #shiverandfears on instagram. You know you get more points if your comment has more than 10 words, right? But why struggle collecting points when posting with #shiverandfears gets you all the points at once!
