Entries Are Being Delivered

Ok, so if you haven't heard then you CAN'T be a fan of Shiver and Fears because that contest that I have been telling you about, that happens every year, has started. We already have kids drawing monsters right now.

Now, I can't tell you how many people tell me how they can't draw or whatever. Well, some time before, the monster drawing contest was a photo editing contest. During the first contest, there was an app where you could take a picture and add moster addings to it. Well strangely, that feature disappeared. It was a year afterwards when an app was discovered to make scary faces from photo images.

At some point it was noted as too scary for kids—Only from the parents, anyway. So after some time we tried a new method where monsters weren't scary, but friendly. Sad part was, there wasn't an area for kids to create monsters cretures... So, we made one!

This game  was created for kids to create monster figures. But this feature had not been made in time for it to work. So, the drawing contest would have to do until then. Now the game is all set. Here's an example of it now:

Now, yearly we get dones of voters, but we don't get a lot of entries trying out this game. Now, don't get me wrong. We want kids to draw their monsters, but we want to include those who can't draw BUT we won't allow that to be the reason why they won't enter.
Those of you who are reading this blog should really try and enter this contest. It's fun! If you haven't already check it out HERE
As of now we want to inform as many kids as possible to enter in this contest. Rumor has it, we even have an adult entering as well! So don't be draw draw a monster... or just create it.

13th Bookaversary Plans

It's been 13 years since the day Shiver and Fears was founded and became a popular icon to most people. But here's the drill on what's happening for the bookaversary and why it's a fuss this year.

Things have been difficult because for one thing money has been tight. Secondly, things haven't gone as planned. In fact, I think the most successful plan was a year or so after the quarentine of 2020. We set up a quick drive by with little gifts to give to our fans.

This year the plan was going to be simple. We weren't going to focus on fans or attracting new people, this year we were going to call some friends and host a pool party... Well- that was the plan...

The plan was simple, go to my brother's apartment and swim at the pool. Eat some food and play some Jackbox games... The thing about the world is plans get changed whether you want them to or not.

First of all, my brother moved into a new house. An area without a pool. So my mission was to call my aunt, figured she had an idea... Nope, not at all. she'd be out for the whole month... Now, you might start to see where the fuss is coming in.

My official plan was to just have a simple BBQ. That was a simple solution, but the thing about simple solutions is that sometimes you get help and they go over and beyond to do so.

Long story short, this simple BBQ is now a BQQ party with Shiver and Fears gifts and books to give to every guest along with a game for someone to win a Shiver and Fears prize.😣😣So now I have 2 weeks to find prizes and gift with what I have available as well as come up with a guest list...

Bookaversaries only come once a year, and sometimes the simple answer isn't the correct answer. But luckily I can make it work!

In the meantime, do me a favor. Go up to the closest icy station and get yourself a Shiver and Fears Chill Out Cone (Silver Fox with Blue raspberry) and share it with your followers, and comment what you think.
Happy 4TH of July folks!

Books and... Video games?

Let’s take a break from discussing books and talk about video games! Since "Shiver and Fears" is on a break this year, I’ve created a new video segment on social media focused on playing video games. Sometimes, my friends and I come together to play a variety of online games. While we often play on Roblox, we explore other games as well.

One game we really enjoy is *TOGETHER*, which was introduced to us by the founder of J.U.S.T. Got Game. However, it’s not the only game in our lineup. We also play games like Scribbl.io, Gartic Phone, and Dress to Impress, among others. The tricky part is that we need to keep the content kid-friendly since we’re creating videos for a younger audience. Some members of our group struggle with maintaining a child-appropriate rating.

We recently finished a video where we tackled a maze of levels. Some levels required a lot of time and teamwork, while others were quite simple—we just made them more challenging for fun!

If you're a video gamer, check out the games we've played! And hey, don’t forget to leave a comment. I see a lot of views, but I’d love to hear from the audience as well. Share your thoughts, and we’ll respond—don’t worry! ✌✌

Local Retailer Introduction

What you see here is not just another book. This right here is Shiver and Fears first book to be distributed to local retailers!

This book has the new and approved cover illustration that everyone is excited to see. With it's ripped title reveal, slightly slanted door and the series number now included. Now, you as a familiar fan will recognize that Shiver and Fears books have been constantly been upgraded repeatedly starting off with it polaroid image and it's usage of icicles side frame. These cover ideas were not bad, but needed something to stand out. The open door image idea was still a working progress and let's hope it's made a final choice. But we all know things continue to change when it comes to creative ideas.
Now back to this retailer business.

Ingram Spark has accepted Shiver and Fears books to work and distribute this and other books. Now question is? How does this work? I'll be honest, I'm still learning myself. I mean, how does this make a difference from when I was going to Barnes and Noble telling them to place this book in the store and them stating "It's not possible?"
Well there are a few words, that I'm still learning and understanding such as Wholesaler, Distributor, Retailer that make the whole marketing system be put into place. From how I'm seeing it, if you have a business, you need to buy your products somewhere, and you need to buy it in bulk. Well, of course if you buy online, they don't come in bulk. They come individually, so maybe that's one thing.
But if you need a product, you still need to buy it. And you'll want to buy it somewhere where it's always provided and they have everything you need.
Now imagine, if you are starting a business, buying your products one by one takes too much time. So of course you go to your supply closet,  the distributor, and buy it there. Now, if someone tries to sell you their product, they probably sell it in a bundle. That means you're repeatedly buying it from them to use and sell it. But why get something that's not in your supply closet? You may need it you may not, right?
So, in that case it shouldn't go straight to the seller, retailer, it should go into their closet... Not that's how I see it. Now this wholesaler is a mystery to me at the moment. And even what retailers to turn to for such a request is a mystery. Especially when contacting them.
Can you imagine how a business has a social media and a website, but no email address? or phone number? and then not to mention the email or phone number provided doesn't even lead you to where your trying to go. Imagine driving to a location to find a park, but there instead is a map that leads you to other placed BUT a park!
Oh brother!

What to Look Forward to

We are nearly in the middle of the month of July. What has this author been up to? Well for you true Shiver and Fears fans, you know the Bookaversary is Saturday... no, not this Saturday. Usually we host a get-together for the fans and give away prizes, but this year we're hosting a private party.

Me and the chosen guests will be a part of a potluck picnic. How can you be involved in the Bookaversary this year? Well, we always have free audiobooks to giveaway, get your hand on one and post about it. Don't forget to use the #shiverandfears. You may not know this, but every now and then, we look for hashtag posts from you we want to share your attention with everyone.

Before I forget, I do want to remind everyone about the new audiobook being worked for publishing. This is an AJ Hard original of course, but it's a part of the Magical Times series. For anyone who might be interested in fantasy fiction instead of thrillers.

But anyway, a lot has been going on, the new book, "There's a Ghost in My Film" is still being worked on, while as we are still giving away special audiobooks to those who want one. The library system is adding another Shiver and Fears book to the shelf.

Yep, there's a lot going on this summer, and you probably a part of it too. In fact!

Here: A5ZRNKD9WH2X6 That is a code for you to use at  https://www.audible.com/acx-promo for an audio copy of The Ghost of Future Me. This a one-time use code. I have more if you ever want another one! But keep in contact for any more news from Shiver and Fears.

Tough Butter part 2

If you've read the blog from yesterday, then you've been informed about the hard struggle of telling people about the Author Fest event. But what is this blog about? This blog is about everything else that I am responsible for.

For one thing, I just got word that after 2 months the new audiobook has FINALLY been published. Now I have 50 codes to give away, and I have no idea how to give them away!

I also have over 100 cups, over 20 books, 50 stickers, and 5 pillows to sell. Where does a person like me get this stuff sold at? There are nearly a dozen marketers who say they wish to help make progress, but of course, they are wishing for payment. I don't have time for this!

I would give payment to someone who is willing to help grab attention, but there are no promises. I have dealt with some marketers before; they have grown my followers list on Instagram, posted me in multiple areas on Facebook, and have had interviews which are somewhere on a podcaster's list, but look where I've gotten to...

So I'm not in the mood to pay someone who can't promise me a change in public attention. Have you been messaged by someone on Instagram who states they want to present you? I've told them multiple times to go ahead and present me with no cost. I never hear from them again.

That's why I'm hoping to get some attention with my idea of publishing other young writers. They shouldn't have to go through junk like this. Someone who wants their story and get paid for it. TOTAL SHAME. Editorial service costs about $50 for every 500 characters. PLEASE! It's even more struggling when you try publishing audiobooks. Payment, payment, payment, that's the only way to get help.

Not for me. I'm willing to help young authors write stories because I'm not concerned about money. I have a job already, so why ask for more just to be helpful? I get companies, but some of these people work for Fiverr. They mostly get paid when they get a position for their work. It's like celebrities who present themselves at Cameo.

Anyway, enough complaining about this "help" that I get offered. It's hard to try to get attention to sell books, pillows, audiobooks, and stickers when there's nowhere to present yourself. I mean, a video about the cool stickers I have gets about 120 views on TikTok, 23 on Instagram, and 20 on YouTube and completely unknown on Facebook, but I can only guess 0-3. That doesn't include comments or likes. Those are around 0-7, and that's IF you combine them.

In other words, publicity is complicated!

Love to Read for Obvious Reasons

Let's take a break from books for a moment. Let's discuss music and holidays. No, I'm not talking about the Super Bowl. I'm talking about Valentine's Day. Now before I tell you more. I want to play a little game: There is a link hidden within this blog. Can you find the link and see where it leads you? Here's a hint: You'll LOVE it.

Now, anyway. I want to tell you about Valentine's Day. It's strange to me, these special days don't seem to be as admired as they used to. Valentine's Day was the perfect time to show your admirer how you felt. It was the perfect time for love songs. Shiver and Fears even made a book on Valentine's Day, and you true fans, know which book it is.

As for now, I am spreading the love with these:

, Every year a different set of Valentine's cards is made for the kids. One thing I've learned over the years is that the card isn't what matters, it's the candy.
I will never forget as I got older passing around cards and candy somewhere in my path I'd find a card I'd given laid out on the floor. Completely forgotten.
In fact one girl didn't want a valentine, because she thought I was in love with her!
I can't say you'll get one, but what you can do is save the image of one and send it to a friend.
Hey, were you able to find that link? You didn't forget, did you? Well, try to find it, I promise you'll like the link. Don't know where it is? If you notice, you'll see it's different for any other word in this blog...

You Want Me To Explain?

You may have missed the fact that you can purchase the self-published version of Attack of the Headless Robot. If you have already bought it, you might be wondering how it's different from the Writer's Republic version. Or maybe you didn't notice it at all and are curious about what I'm talking about.

The truth is that working with Writer's Republic was a time-consuming and challenging process. At one point, I wasn't even sure if the book was going to be published at all. It's frustrating to think that I spent two months preparing a book that might not see the light of day. Everyone, including you, was eagerly waiting for this book to be published, but I had to hold back because of various problems that Writer's Republic was facing.

In the end, I decided to publish the book the same way I did with all Shiver and Fears books. A day or two after the self-publishing, I received an email stating that the book was on its way. I couldn't believe it when I received the book in the mail, and kids were already trying to snatch it out of my hand! They were so eager to read it that they were even bending it. That's when I knew the self-published version had to come out, and the new book hadn't even reached the shelf yet.

So, nothing can change until I get the final results. I'll keep you updated on that! #selfpublishing #kidlit #booklovers #amwriting

Chill out! School Starts!

So what's been up with Shiver and Fears? I'm sure you've been sitting at the edge of your seat waiting to hear.

Well can you believe you favorite author has a new product? No, not the mug, not the shirts, no, the cookies were already a thing! I'm talking about ice-cream. Before I give you the full 411, let me tell you, if this Shiver and Fears product makes a good impression on a few people before making it to sales. If enough likes are given, then this product will be sold in the summer of 2024.

Don't give me any confusion looks! Ice-cream is a hit throughout the summer. So why so late making it? Well, most of the summer was dedicated to Shiver and Fears' bookaversary. After that, the idea was made, what if a new product was made? Hence, Chill Out Ice Cream was made! Now this is no ordinary ice-cream; coming from the author, it never is. This blue ice cream is made from White chocolate and caramel.

Yes, you heard me, BLUE ice cream! and sprinkled on top is almond bark. This is different from Sugar and Fears cookies, which might sell this fall. (That is just blue sugar cookies with which chips.) Because this is a product that needs to be tested first. Our taste tester, Shiver and Fears' #1 fan, is trying it and will give the announcement soon.

If this ice cream fails, a new set of ingredients will be placed. However, if passed, this new product will be not only served at the next bookaversary, but will be sold in 2024 along with Shiver and Fears self printed books.

At this moment, I want to give thanks to those who have my back in making Shiver and Fears what it needs to be.
Now, let's talk about what my next move for Shiver and Fears is doing the Monster Contest. hosted on Shiver and Fears website. all you do is simple:
put together a monster
save it to your computer
give the monster a name
write his hobbies
place in your name
email it to shiverandfears@gmail
and leave the rest to the other Shiver and Fears fans as they vote in September!
Meeatkids is our first entry.
Remember, we're not looking for scary, just your best look for a monster.

Bookaversary of 2023

Now comes another year of Shiver and Fears as it makes it's 11th appearance for a bookaversary gathering.
This year Shiver and Fears is planning to host the book signing event at
Literati Press Bookshop. At this moment right now we are chatting with the store owner about making plans there, But I ask that you stay tuned for more information, or just in case plans change. For if we can not host at the press bookshop, I will be hosting it at the Shiver and Fears headquarters.
My plan for this year is to have pens to sell for $2.50 (yep, the price went down!)
At this time now I will be taking pre-orders for Shiver and Fears hand-crafted books copies. As of right now, only 3 books are available to choose from.
  • The Skeleton Dinner
  • Walking in My Shoes
  • Don't Mock a Witch
These books only cost $10. Payment will be accepted at the signing. (Location still pending) Be sure to stay tune with me at social medias such as Instagram, and YouTube @Shiver and Fears. You can pay in cash or by cash App or PayPal.
I am also including a photo shoot with Boo the Ghost. No, there is not a photo area and Boo is NOT some guy in a costume. If you want to find out how to take a picture with Boo, you'll just have to show up and find out! Just know, Boo is a ghost, so you can't see him when you want to!
Something else I'm planning for the book event is a give-a-way for Shiver and Fears mugs. Maybe I'll sell them too, not quite sure yet.
Be on the look out for any news about Shiver and Fears bookaversary!

These Pens are worth $4

Well fans it's happening! Shiver and Fears is still growing as we continue passing around the merch to our young fans. As of now Animated Eclectic and Elevated Growth have started to introduce Shiver and Fears perch and now we have another product to introduce.

Check out Shiver and Fears Light-up pens!

These pens work as a stylist and a pen, but I'm sure you'll be more interested in the lighting up part. There is a long story to go with what it took to make this process happen. You can catch the video of it all on Youtube.
Now, about the pens. Yes, they cost only $4 each. Now as a fan who loves to see Shiver and Fears grow into more than just books, then this product needs your attention!

Instead of having such an amazing pen for yourself, you should share! Buy a pen and give it to someone special. Now don't be sitting there stating that this pen isn't worth $4 even if it does glow. Because here's the thing, the young ones will LOVE it. How often do kids come across a pen that lights up?
Don't believe me? Well last year I sold Shiver and Fears color changing pencils. To this day, I still have kids/ fans asking for pencils. Sadly, I ran out the market for those pencils and went to pens. Now, these kids haven't seen these pens, BUT I've already shown a few people and they already want to buy a pen.
I suggest, you look into this. Email me or comment this blog post.

Let's Find the Best Monster

Baby Ghoul
Well, it's September, which means we have entered all entries. Now we are at the part of this contest where Instagram viewers take a vote every weekend.
As you already know, Scarface is already hanging up his title as monster of the year.💼 Zombie Mouth has already disappeared! Now it's up to you, Instagram users. Who is the scariest monster of them all?

Could it be "Skinny Creeps" an instagramer who has a thing for Goosebumps! So far, he is tied with another monster "Creepy Clown" so they'll have to fun face to face in the polls later. 😮
Skinny Creeps

Here is a nominee from TikTok.👇 Yep, we even accept nominees! One thing that we are working on for this contest is getting contestants to create their own monster! But first, we need to get reconition.
Fang Thriller
I'm sure if you are reading this, you must be on instagram. So I'm letting you know, this Friday morning, be ready to vote for our next polls. You can find it at Shiver and Fears profile stories... If you know where they are!

Loud and Proud in the Parade

Today was fantastic. Here I was watching the annual MLK parade in OKC. This year was differnt than all the others. Because of Covid 19 the parade had been sent viral.

As most of you may know I was a part of the parade back in 2020. This year I wasn't so sure if I'd make it. The first part of the parade was special sponsors who made their announcements and speeches about the whole parade. (Kinda like how they start a football game) Then the real parade began. Dozens of vendor sang, presented their work, and spoke. As this was happening I was sending the live video to all the fans and friends I know.

I couldn't miss a second of the parade because I wasn't sure if I had made it or not. As I started to comment and sponsor myself I heard a familiar noise. Click here for what it was.

Over 300 people were watching that parade and over 300 people comment how much they enjoyed each sponsor and vendor. Question is, how many of those people were my fans? I would like to think about a quarter of that crowd was for me. It's a special privilege to be a part of an event where we can all come together, whether it be Christmas or Martin Luther King!

Catch this parade on Youtube.com- 2021 OKC MLK HOLIDAY PARADE

Illustration partner

Before I tell you some fun news let me make sure you know about what you alrweady know. My artist partner Randon Timberlake has re-illustrated a few book covers for Shiver and Fears. and he still is, but as time passes it might be time to work with another partner. So that's where this artwork comes in. If you haven't heard, Shiver and Fears got an upgrade with the book "Why I Don't Play Video Games" more gruesome huh? This was put together by Mei Wu and artist found on social media. We'll see how well this goes. Meantime, we're not sure if Random still wants to work with us. Who's artwork do you like more? Randon or Mei? Randon did his picture for the book "Puppet Family" Awkward don't you think? I think so for sure.

Meanwhile here is another fearing story to tell! We are monsterfying our fans early this year! Why, you may ask, here is what we're thinking: Starting in the month of October give us 10 days for entries, 20 days for votes, and 1 day to reveal winner. (broken up evenly) By starting in August, that's a whole month to enter in the contest, a month to chat with our judges and enough time to choose which monster is the best for the whole year!

This is an example of one of our monster fans. This isn't really the guy who entered, but he sent a picture of someone, I guess his brother, and we made a monster out of him. That's the fun part of the contest, it doesn't have to be a portrait of yourself, it can even be a drawing! Just as long as we have a name behind it, you're in.

We are encouraging social media fans to send us a picture by DM, but for you blog readers, enter the contest by sending your picture to shiverandfears@gmail.com. Just remember to add your name so if you win we know who it belongs to.

That's all we have for now, but if we have any more news... well, you know how to find us!

8th Bookaversary, Shiver and Fears

Shiver and Fears annual book anniversary is today! Wow, to think one book started all this! Back in 2012 The Haunted Cell Phone was just manuscript on a computer, but soon became an idea for everyone to read.
Now we have reached 32 horror fiction books in 8 wholes years. Over 150 audio books from this series has been sold and made around $300 doing it! About 7 teenage tv stars have made an appearance video in Shiver and Fears behave. 3 books reviewers have commented about the author and his books (me).
Shiver and Fears has made contact to 1584 people on Facebook and has a total of 277 likes on Facebook and 342 followers on Instagram.
Now you gaze at this information and might be like "Don't sound so successful to me." But the truth is the fact that numbers do go up, and the fact that this series has traveled the globe to many english-speaking people, shows more than you think.
It's good to know the bookaversary still stands even with all this craziness going around. We'll be sure to check rating next year and compare how much has changed!
Happy Bookaversary!

An Author's Advantages

We've met a few new people last month. Of course there's Sehloho Rampai, our author of the month. One person I chatted with was
Ethan Wacker. Funny thing was my niece loved watching

Bizaardvark and one of her favorite characters were Bernie Shots.

(She felt bad for his push-aside character on the show.) But after the show she

was worried about him with the entire quarantine issue. I told her I might be able to

get a hold of him. "Ask him how he's doing?" she told me.

Now this was around the time I was writing my new book for Magical Times.
As I started writing to him, my niece asked me about my story. I told her
it was about magical twin brothers and their talking dog.
"Do you think Ethan would like to be in your book?" she asked.
I told her I wasn't sure, but I'd ask. Now, when I don't sell many copies of
my work, but I do have a collection of fans (my niece and a few of her
friends.) They were all excited to know if Ethan would like to guest star in
my story.
A day or two later Ethan messaged me back saying he would
love to star in my book. Hopefully, I can get this book done soon, because
I want Ethan to like it. Right now, you can catch a glimpse of the book
 at wattpad.com
If you haven't heard already, Shiver and Fears had quit working with
Lulu and is now looking for another print publishing company to work with.
I know, I know. Shiver and Fears is putting a hold on publishing for
now on as I said before, and we are. We're taking a break, while we look
into some options. But right now Ethan can't wait to read the
next Magical Times story. I bet you can't either.

New audiobook

Publishing audiobooks can be complicated. No Body Park was supposed to be ready January 10th, but there's always an issue that puts your work on pause. I was starting to think Shiver and Fears 28th book wouldn't be ready until February. That's when I saw this: No Body Park< (click here).
Now the question is when will it be ready on Amazon and Itunes? Truth is, now. January 10 I was messaged that I had to resend in the files and wait up to 14 days for the book to be published... it's been 16!! And I'm still not seeing any progress.
So then what do I have here?^^^ Well, I work with another audiobook company that not only publishes to more audio companies but doesn't have authors and their illustrating partners waiting. I've emailed the company and let them know I want an answer on why my work is being kept hostage.
My thoughts are ACX isn't very helpful. So far it's the only audiobook site that you can hire a person to read your book just with the share of royals. Other sites, such as Fiver cost 0.05₵ per word for narration, and then there are sites that just request files of narration. So you have to do it yourself.
Being an author is a difficult job, but after years of work you get used to the traffics of a task and find a few short cuts along the way.

World-Wide Books

First of all I want to say, if you live in Oklahoma you know this weather is totally crazy. Rain, wind, and sunshine. Over... and over... and over again.
Now that we've settled that let's talk about books:
First of all, let me say that my next book is the Shiver and Fears series is called The Puppet Family. About a boy meeting two new friends and meanwhile getting involved in a kidnapping. Right now the book is on hold due to the book illustrator, Randon Timberlake. The cover should be ready in just a few more days. Once it's drawn, I'll be coloring it. So it should be ready by next week.
Next, I want to say The AJ Hard collection (Shiver and Fears) and (Magical Times) have been posted on book stores all around the world in audio and in paperback. So what's next on my agenda? It's time I pass around the word that Shiver and Fears deserve the attention from it's audience. This summer I'll be going to Missouri for the annual camp of KAA. There might be a few kids there who would love to meet an author.
Another thing is I'm thinking of is to do a live video of chatting with pedestrians at The Village Library about checking out Shiver and Fears. Kinda give it like a  "Secret celebrity" vibe. I also want to do a contest on Instagram, but I have a feeling it might fail, but never not try something just because you doubt it.

This funding will help promote The AJ Hard collection to as many readers as possible. Check it out. And don't be afraid to check out the many sites f Shiver and Fears

New illustration

Well anyway, if your looking at the cover and thinking it needs some work, you're right. 2 weeks ago I chatted with a young artist, Randon Timberlake, and he's agreed to do the illustration for the books. Here is our book now:
I did the coloring, but the drawing came from my partner. If you read this book, you might notice some flaws in the writing. Well, the first few books I've written, I wasn't too focused on paragraphs. But after a few years, it grew on me. I'll get work on that later, right now I'm trying to finish A Puppet Family. At this moment right now I have 4 chapters to finished, send it to y editing partner, Cody, and then Randon will draw the cover. Want to know what his creative side is like? I do too. You'll see in Shiver and Fears 27th series.
