Enid Library AuthorFest

Guess what? It's that time of year again! Enid Library has invited AJ Hard to their annual Author Fest. This year we will have a whole load of stuff! Books, pillows, cups, and stickers! Even Boo the ghost will make an appearance!

We will have a collection of 5 books, including:
Lost in the Forgotten Library
Attack of the Headless Robot
Sibling Subtraction
Magical Times
Haunting of the Halloween Kids
What other authors will be present at the event? I'm not sure, but I'll let you know as soon as I know myself. But I can tell you this, there will be dozens, which means there will be multiple genres for multiple ages. So don't feel like your too old or too young for this event. It will be located at Enid Library 120 W Maine Ave, Enid, OK 73701 to be exact!

Hope you'll be there, or at least tell somebody who can. You'll enjoy and be upset when you miss it.

Happy Valentines day fan!

Check this out fans of Shiver and Fears! We have created our own secret code! How do you solve our messages, only a true fan would know. Because only a true fan gets link to the secret video!

Now, you might be a fan of Shiver and Fears. If that's true, all you have to do is leave a comment. You'll receive the location of this video and a valentine card with a coded message.

If you solve the code, send the message to AJ. and guess what? Yep, you guessed it, you'll get a prize! Best of luck!

Now this was earlier this month. Fans have already gotten their prize and have been claimed SUPER FANS. Why didn't you hear about this? well it was on the website. You should visit more often.

Do you claim to be a super fan? Well then, let put you to the test. Before we give you the test there are a few simple rules you must follow when being a super fan:

This code is a secret. You can't go telling people how the code works, otherwise ANYONE can solve these messages and don't have to prove they're worth knowing the code, you know?

a super fan isn't just someone who knows the code. It's proof that you exist! Let me explain. For these fans to know the code, this means they saw the video. A video that a simple fan can't locate just by asking. These fans watched this video and understood how it works. That shows effort.

So here is the SUPER FAN test. Solve this code and email me your answer. If you are already a Super fan, this means the trick I've placed in this code doesn't faze you. Can you solve this:

yra rbiln ey toG rofe htnide Kco lsiko Obsr ae fdnAre vi hst xenehtofe Ltiteht

Now remember you can't tell anyone how to solve this code! Now if you want to know how to solve this code, here is a hint (I want to see how much dedication you have to do this) Go to the website, you have found the video when you see the valentine.

Best of luck!

Shiver and Fears has been busy!

It's getting to be that point of the year when I, as the author of Shiver and Fears put my attention to the joy of Christmas, I mean Creepsmas. What is Creepsmas? you might be asking. It's a haunted parody of the holiday thousands of people love. What's so different about the two? You might think that we include more scary gifts into the mix than what's for Christmas.
No, not at all, the difference is that we sent a random set of fans a Shiver and Fears gift. This year our gifts were provided by Barnes and Noble and VistaPrint.  We are given a total of 10 books, 5 winter beanies, and some eBooks.
Then afterwards, I have my own Christmas shopping to do. for my friends, family, and a little for myself. For the past few months, Shiver and Fears has been grabbing a whole load of attention. I've hosted 2 book signings, presented tons of art work, read madlibs made by kids, passed nearly 100 buisness cards, set up contests, hung flyers, and passed out the remaining color changing pencils. But fans are wanting to know the big story. What is my next book going to be about?
Well, stay tuned, because I made a choice to spend this year focusing on Shiver and Fears attention growth, now that this year is nearly over, my next book will come into mind. Right now, I have a special gift in mind.
But as for now I have to line up my events. The first one to come up is the school Creepsmas giveaway. Who will be the owners of new Shiver and Fears books? Only Santa will know... No, we don't have a horror parody of Santa, he's just Santa Claus! (No, not with a 'W')

The Finished Work

It's finally happened, Shiver and Fears new book, Terror Tales 2 has been released in hard copy. Meet are stars of this book

Hard to see, I know, but these kids are the winner of the Shiver and Fears contest! As you remember, Shiver and Fears took 7 stories from 3rd graders and placed their titles into the book. There is actually 8 3rd graders, however our 8th chacter had to play a different part in the story.
While each kid had their own story which interfered with one another our 8th character, Jalynn was the start of it as her story explained how the whole story was put together! So why wasn't she placed in the photo? Well, the truth is Shiver and Fears was only taking 7 stories, but Jalynn's class only had small limit of 3rd graders. With the 7 already chosen, Jalynn's class would have been the only forgotten group of the school. We didn't want to  exclude a class just for their number of students. So the idea was to slide in her story, while telling the others... Think of it as a commercial break.
Well these kids were fanatical when given their copy. Made a few jealous faces. Now, it's only going to get better. This new book will be the first Shiver and Fears book located in a school library! Only thing is, it'll be a total different book set.
Each Shiver and Fears book includes a illustrated cover. Not this one. Since the illustration for this book is late, the book had to be published without it! But a good Shiver and Fears book can not to presented without a good cover. But until the cover has been created the finished book is unable to be published.
That would come to the new partner of Shiver and Fears books, Cameron Dunk. When will he artwork come?
We still await the answer!

Author live in person

School is finally out for this teacher, and what a month of work. Just earlier Shiver and Fearshad been presented in front of young readers of the grade of 3rd. After reading An Old Bite, A Puppet Family and a summary of The Ghost of Future Me, students were wowed with dozens of questions. Even the teachers were amazed with the story behind Shiver and Fears.
Throughout the week, I was no longer known to those kids as a teacher they've seen in the hall. I was now Mr. AJ Hard, the teacher who published books. Although, it's ashame. Today 4 of our student will be making their way to 5th grade. Them and the other 8 never knew this about their own teacher! Why were they never told? It wasn't because I was ashamed or anything. It was because I didn't want to lose the realationship I already had with them.
To those students of mine I was a teacher and I wasn't ready to advance that title, not just yet. Although I did think, maybe if I had shown them one of my books, maybe they would better understand  how a book is formed.
Anyway, I hope that next year  Shiver and Fears can reach out to more students. In fact my plan is to have a book published by the school, for the school. But we'll have to see what this year holds for us!

What's the result?

So let me tell you what's planned for this summer. Shiver and Fears is publishing their last book! With this stupid virus being a fake hazard The bookaversary party will be hosted live video and Shiver and Fears is taking the last breaths.
Books have been selling, but still at a slow rate. If I were living off the sales of these books. My office would be the library and I'd be living in a box on the street. (Kind of depressing huh?) Well, it's come to the conclusion Shiver and Fears don't need to be sold if they are even made for money. Which is good, because they aren't making any anyway.
So this is what's happening to Audiobooks  We're posted samples of them on Youtube, book 31- will be posted on Wattpad for now on, no more contests, events, fewer comments and attention grabbers. Free audiobooks will only be given to the first 5 birthdays of each month until 2021 then free audiobooks will be no longer e offered.
It might sound like Shiver and Fears is closing, but that's not what's happening. What's going on is we're taking out the time and effort to produce and promote it.
You might have questions, and I'm willing to answer. It might help you understand what's going on.

Think Positive

So I was thinking about everyone and how they may be a little bummed this month. Well, I chatted with my new friend Issac Brown and we came up with an idea to send a positive message to those around us. This is what we put together:
We are sending this video to what I like to call the 3 F's: family, friends, and fans! We want to be sure that everyone doesn't look at this as a bad thing. Those with overhead schedules, can now finally relax. Those who get distracted by friends can finally focus on their school work, and those who feel like there's nothing else to do can learn something new.
For me, I've decided to run on a schedule. With me being at home all day, I 've come to notice I live a repetitive life when I' at home. So why not make it into a daily routine?
For those of you who don't know, Shiver and Fears is working on another book: The Happiest Show Ever. It's pretty ironic, I got the idea when watching Jimmy Neutron. When you hear about it, you think it's kind of awkward for a horror fiction book to include being happy, but like many horror fiction storytellers, we know how to make even the happiest story have a grey dark side to it!
Want more? Check out Facebook! and remember, just tell those grey skies turn around, and look over that mountain! (watch this)

"Love" Horror Fiction

Shiver and Fears are sending love to many fans in different ways. One way we are doing this is by having a giveaway. Fans are commenting "Love That Book" and are receiving audiobook codes. You can get your audiobook code by commenting "Love that book" on the blog.
We are also giving codes to the first 5 birthdays on Facebook. So far we've given over 11 codes so far.
Another way we are sending love to our fans is by having them meet Creeps. Who is Creeps? If you really don't know Creeps, you're really behind. He's our pet mascot, for the 10,000th time:
< This is Creeps!
He's Shiver and Fears mascot, we found him. He may look a little mean, but he's nice.
especially when you give him a Valentine!
This Valentine's Day we are passing out Creeps' cards to a bunch of children at a public school. Shiver and Fears actually will be making a few appearances to a lot of kids for St. Valentine's Day.
Now, you might think Shiver and Fears isn't very scary if the author is celebrating Valentine's Day because Valentine's Day isn't scary. If that's the case, you haven't read: "The Dangers of Love" a valentine favorite from Shiver and Fears <click here
Word of advice, you should wish Creeps a Happy Valentine's Day on social media, He doesn't like feeling alone for Valentine's Day and might go on a rampage if he feels left out. I mean just because he's an ice monster doesn't mean he doesn't have feelings. I mean, he does love his fans... especially for dinner!!!
Happy Valentine's Day!
